If Thief 4 would have been a true reboot, I would have liked a Thief 3 prequel. I always thought there seemed to be a gap between TMA and DS. I would have liked to see more wrap up after Thief 2; the aftermath of the Mechanist downfall and the subsequent rise of the Hammerites back into power. I felt that the Hammerites didn't fight back as hard as they should have against the Mechanists taking over their influence and there was no true confrontation between them, though much griping on the side of the Hammers. How did the city recover from the mechanist destruction of vegetation? Did the pagans have a hand in restoring anything? Would the hammers have been opposed to this? It would have made a good setting for a religious conflict between all three parties.
then i guess you never played the 2 part mobile game that came out when thief 3 came out,it is a prequel to thief 3,i made a post about free mobile game and i left a wiki link that shows entire story and 2 new artifacts keepers eye and keepers heart, they are in meuseam according to story in mobile game, but in thief 3 i went to same meuseam and not sure i saw them,as i don't think the eye from cathedral is same eye

Actually, I think it was stated by Ion Storm somewhere (almost a decade ago, so sorry if the quote can't be found) that Deadly Shadows takes place just weeks after Thief 2. When Garrett asked Artemus to tell him more about the prophecies, that was just recently in TDS. They continue where that converation left off, right after the Rutherford job, when Artemus proposes a deal with Garrett.
The only problem was technical and resource limitations of the development team. They didn't have time to make the mechanist legacy more apparent. Basically that lack of content created for TDS is the only thing left to imply that there is a long gap between T2 and TDS. The official story is that there isn't much time between the two games. Or at least I think it is. I don't remember which piece of information was more "official", the two-week gap between Thief 2 and TDS, or the 1,5 year gap between Thief 1 and Thief 2. But I'm certain that at least one of those was explicitly stated by the developers to be true.

Yeeeah... I think it's safe to say based on all the dialogue that it is the same Eye. It even makes a joke about coming back one day to claim Garrett's other eyeball too.

thank you for info, what about the keeper heart?,i don't remember seeing it in thief 3 but thief mobile had it in meuseam
maybe thief 3 and thief mobile story lines are kinda mixed a bit as garrett goes to meuseam in both thief 3 and the mobile game
and my final thoughts on what should thief 4 story line be,it should be a prequel to the first game,so we can see how keepers/hammers/ect formed/got to the point we saw in thief 1 dark project/gold

The Burrick's Heart is the Eye's less powerful and more silent cousin. It's a keeper artifact just like the Eye, along with the Chalice, the Paw and the Crown. And it's also on display in the museum in TDS.

well that is cool then we got a bit more story added with thief mobile game, both parts that i guess run concurrent to thief 3,as gamal was in thief mobile showing that it was not after thief 3,now we just need a decent prequel to thief 1.hence thief 4

Interesting...but I would have preferred a first person game but the control of the game could be a issue because smart phones and tablets don't handle them well. :cheeky:
