I just like having old computers around (I have 4 PCs in total + two Commodore 64's :p) I guess I'm a computer collector too. DosBox is good but it's not the real thing.

MDK! Whoah! I played that when I was eight, and never could remember what the title was.
Off to Ebay!
If you just want the game, I believe it is freely and legally available, plus it runs on modern PCs (mine, at least).
It's just as odd-looking and impressive as it was when it first came out, due in part to the primative, technology-stretching graphics, as well as the just plain weird enemy and level designs. A definite sense of humor is present in much of the design as well.
I couldn't finish it, the lack of saving mid-level killed off some of the enjoyment.

Abandonia: You can pick up Bioforge there as well.

MDK ain't abandonware. It'll be sold on gog.com upon its launch.

The name Abandonia doesn't necessarily mean that everything there is abandonware. FWIW, MDK is still freely available there. Other games, such as Civ2, aren't, though they have entries, as the site abides by any requests from publishers that they stop offering free downloads.

I don't see the point in maintaining a legacy computer. With the aforementioned Dosbox, all of the old titles that I've tried work fine.
DOSBox doesn't do crap to help you play old 3D-accelerated games that don't work so well on modern video cards. Like, y'know... THIEF.
