Regardless of how bad it is, it's pretty clearly an action RPG in the classic "click click click" sense.

The world needs more arbitrary top 100 lists, because they are not a very cheap way to stir controversy and grab attention at all. I give this list a 8.5 out of 10 bananas so far.

We need more top 100 lists so we can get angry about something. Maybe we should be putting together a TTLG top 100 list if it's so utterly awful?

I have to say that I completely agree that Diablo 3 doesn't deserve to be in that list. Especially when you consider just HOW MANY rpgs have been released since the very beginning. Surprised that Shadowrun didn't score better.
I wonder if their going to include games with RPG elements, as what makes a game a "RPG" is very much an eye of the beholder (no pun intended to the rpg series of the same name) type thing. To me System Shock 2 is an rpg for example. Now you might consider it an FPS which it is also.

Word. If I wasn't supposed to be upholding the tone I'd go so far as to call it, "A Shitty Emo Wank-Fest". Ooops. My bad. Even IX wasn't exactly one of the greatest things but after the eighth one rocked up and beat us all around the head with it's turgid mediocrity anything seemed like a step up.
Things I'll be paying close attention to the placement of:
* FFVII
* Fallout 1 & 2
* Ultima VII
* Ultima Underworld II
* Baldur's Gate Series
* Chrono Trigger
And yeah, I may have wasted 100 hours on Diablo III so far but an RPG? GTFO.

Of course FF8 is an emo-wank fest. It's a Final Fantasy game. Wangst is as much a trademark of the series as Chocobos or engineers named Cid.

Clearly the best RPG is "IGN's Quest for 100x Ad Impressions".

Icewind Dale 2, huh? I was turned off of it when my brother said it was basically the mass-killing segments of Throne of Bhaal stretched into an entire game, but with orcs. Anyone here find it worthwhile?
icemann on 12/9/2012 at 04:32
That one's been on my todo list for quite some time.

Both Icewind Dale's were fantastic. I actually prefer them to Baldur's Gate in a lot of ways, but that could just be retroactive Bioware fatigue.
