Hi All,
I used to be a regular on these Forums butgot lost a while back. Bought Thief 3 about 2 weeks ago and started playing it yesterday. I knowI can't believe it myself. How the hell did I resist getting the game when it firstcame out etc?
Anyway started playing it (have only gone through a couple of missions). Am at the stage where You are in Garretts home in the City.
A bit disappinted to be honest so far. I don't like the new eye and the stupid noise it makes when you activate it. I miss the black and white pictures that you saw before each of the missions in the previous two games. I hate the way it is now, Garrett talking and a scroll down of what he is saying. I feel that the mood has been lost and it doesn't (so far) have the same immersion that the previous games gave me :erg:
But I will stick with it and hopefully it'll grab me. Must be said that the original Dark Project just blew me away. i was instantly in that game I was the thief the world was real etc. This game although the graphics are better the game is not.
Sorry if I sound extremely negative, I will continue this thread over the mext while and let you know (if indeed you give a s+++t) if thingshave improved. In the meantime let me know if you felt the same andif you think I will be pleasantly surprised as the game unfolds.
I'm sure there must be a thread that is similar but to be honest I didn't have time to go looking and I must now dash and get back to The City see if I can't regain that lost feeling.:)
Wish me look

Highnoon,
The game felt weird for me at first, and I felt the same way about the intros. Rest assured, it grows on you in time. It's a different interface to the same world.

The last levels were far superior to the first imho. Stick with it and see if it will grow on you. :thumb:

Definetely use New Horizon's Minimalist Project. It makes the interface very close to the originals.

Obviously people HATE change here. Why make the game like the older versions? Stick with the fan missions if you don't want the game to evolve.

"Evolve" is good. "Change completely" not so good.
Thief 2 looks like Thief 1, but the graphics, although similar, are better. Some new AI are introduced (the bots)and there some improvements in gameplay (nicking an archer's arrow, vine arrows, etc). This is evolution.
Thief 3 has better graphics but they don't look anything like T1 or T2. Gameplay is worse (Garrett can't swim, no rope arrow, etc). The AI walk as though they are wearing lead boots. The additions (climbing gloves, oil flasks etc) are gimmicks. I dislike the continual gloom and lack of colour. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but it hasn't "evolved" - it's completely different.

NO they don't look the same because it's using a different engine AND they were made five years after the last sequel so are going to be much higher definition.

Face it dood, the T3 people sold the series down the river.
'Tis an utmost shame, yet it is reality.

Why do I get the feeling that you entered this thread just to hate? And if this was a "I like it!" thread you wouldn't have made a post.
T1 and 2 didn't exactly sell the series UP the river either. I could say that on the 2nd mission of T2 the idea of "esoteric cult game" hit me so hard I uninstalled the game, but I wouldn't say it just to rub it in your face.
