You won't be hearing any notable dialect in official programmes.
For those not familiar with biomechanics (and although arte is one of the more sophisticated TV channels in Germany with a corresponding audience) the term "Biomechaniker" (literally bio mechanic/engineer) makes it sounds like you repair...erm...bio stuff. Is this really an official (sub) subject so that the label applies? Like I could, for instance, be labelled as an Early Isma'iliyya scholar even if one usually cannot study an early Isma'iliyya degree programme?

The english term is biomechanist, i.e. someone involved with the study of biological mechanisms or 'biomechanics'. It is a proper field, got journals and everything. Sounds like biomechaniker would be a translation of 'biomechanic' which yeah, suggests that I fix animals.

typical young story-teller voice (with a lot of speech training), as always used in german documentaries.
We're used to that type of voice and pronunciation from childhood on, every time there is an information part on TV (like a documentary). Absolutely nothing weird about it.

Interestingly, the Thief II Mechanists were translated as "Mechanisten" in German which is understandable but very different from mechanic/engineer.
Biomechanist would have been an awesome translation, though. :p
