Surprised, eh???
But it's the truth...
More than 14-15 years after playing Thief 1 for a first time, I finally got a Thief Gold copy. I largely ignored it because I thought it was the same as Thief 1.
Huge mistake, it seems.
I don't know if it's due to the years, but all missions seem changed to me... Currently on Bonehoard, but cntrl-alt-shift-ended through the end and spotted at least several original missions. Surprise.
So what to expect? I got lost in Cragscleft, but it could be due to the years of not visiting this place.
How much is it different?

apart from the extra missions, the differences are very small, maybe with the exception of Lost City, where the critters have been replaced by mages in one part of the level.

The Sword is also affected... but you can find that out for yourself.

Probably the first mission where I considered crumbling the map and tossing it at the nearest burrick. Learning to use the compass and memorizing what was in north and south was much more useful. (But in truth I do love the vagueness of the old Thief maps.)

Did you play the Opera House level? For some reason I found it quite disturbing to think of how all those people, the singers, actors and workers etc, were just going about their business in the Opera House totally unaware that beneath their feet was a series of old tunnels featuring danger, the Pincer Men.
I kept wondering whether there was one directly below my feet whenever I was on the ground floor.

I haven't reach it yet. Because I barely have time for gaming.
I'm currently on the mage mission ad I guess I will resume in several weeks.
