I'm pretty sure these guys are fired. - by Kurgan

Been playing Thief for years, since it first came out, but I'd never gotten around to playing Thief Gold, until now. The revisions to the original game are pretty spiffy, and I really like the additional missions (just completed Song of the Caverns). So, when I got to the Opera House, I just couldn't resist having a little fun, --just for giggles. Figured you'd get a kick out of this:

Never upped an image here before, so dunno if it's a link, a thumb, or if it tries to load the whole image. Apologies if the latter. Had to crank the brightness, because the screenshot came out almost black. That's why the colors are so wonky. And don't even ask how long it took to find every body and drag 'em all back there for the show. <Chuckle> God, I've got
way too much time on my hands.
@David Thanks for the edit. Wasn't sure about that. :)

Oh, almost forgot. If you're thinking of trying to spell-out "Garrett Was Here" with unconscious bodies, it doesn't work. lol

That must be a killer opera :D
GlasWolf on 18/4/2006 at 01:16
Either that or a really really bad one.

Cranked up the gamma or the brightness?
Gamma is usually the better option.
Anyway, nice screenie, you knocked out everyone in that place? I can't be screwed to do something like that...
Actually, I thought that you were gonna go sick and make everyone look like they're having kinky sex with each other...I need to get my mind outta the gutter.
P.S. remember to edit, not double post.

What difficulty level was it on? It looks like there's a few missing.

@Soul Shaker
I had the gamma up in the game so I could see, since it was a little dark, but I think it was the brightness I ended up increasing in Paintshop Pro to make the screenie visible. For some reason the screenshot was almost black. Heh, frustrating thing about getting old. I keep running into little annoyances like this that I know I figured out and corrected once before, but it was years ago and I've forgotten how to do it. I'm only 40 and I'm already getting Swiss-cheese brain syndrome. lol
And yeah, I KO'd everyone, then went back and hauled them all into the theater. Took forever, too. I cheated and tossed a few over railings and such so I wouldn't have to carry 'em so far, and a couple made funny sounds or comments when they hit, stuff I'd never heard in the game before.
I first separated them into piles, archers, swordsmen, ballet dancers, nobles, etc. Then tried to spell-out "Garrett Was Here" with the bodies, but just couldn't get it to look like overly legible letters, even from up by the roof (rope arrow) where I took the screenshot. So I just went back and lined them all up in a de facto chorus line. :)
Oh, and I did edit. That second post was intended to be an afterthought style second post.
@Aedryn
I only play expert level. I don't find the lesser levels to be fun. If anyone's missing, I'm stumped as to where they were. I checked the stats afterwards, and my KOs equated to the number of bodies (59), not counting anything back in the caverns, though (just monsters, --craymen and spiders--, which I killed and left there). There is one person that was left alone, and that was the former theater guy back in the caverns that tipped me to the location of the talisman, and gave me the map & key. Left him singing his little heart away. :)
I did make one mistake, though. I accidentally achieved the objectives before I was finished, so couldn't go back outside to hunt for guards, or else the game would end. So, I went around and got their attention, drawing them inside so I could knock them out. Pretty sure I got them all, though. I spent some time looking and listening for other guards outside, and making a hell of a racket, and nobody else made a peep or came running, and I couldn't see any other guards outside through doors or windows.

Did Azal ever do S&U for TG?
Luthien on 19/4/2006 at 05:56
No, there's only the original S&U guide.
