okay I dont remember grabbing the key in the sprint to save my life doing a theives quild quest. So now that I have what trouble can i get into or am I in trouble and just do not know it yet... Anyone use it for anything?

You don't grab it. Gray fox gives it to you. It's only use is for the Ultimate Heist, as it doesn't open the door that connects to the upper levels of the imperial palace from the front entrance, and the old way closes after the quest.
So, the only havok you're gonna cause is the quest related kind.
