Nice. Very nice.
Sounds like I´ll have something to play while waiting for Thief III and Deus Ex II.

Looking very good, and this preview told me more than I've heard before - great stuff!
Just something I wanted to say, since the devs are probably reading here. This screenshot:

made me think, "wow, the character model really looks solid." And, since conversations can go third person cinematic style a la Deus Ex, AND we'll finally have feet (YAY! From playing Blade and Ultima IX, I can assert it does make a big difference in feel), they should really make sure to tweak movement rates just right to feel like you're really there. Most games just have the player glide along like a hovercraft instead of on legs. Case in point, two of our faves, are quite different. Thief's movement to me feels sweet, almost perfect. Deus Ex on the other hand, adore it as I do, kind've had gliding player syndrome - it's one thing that needed a tweak.
So, I'm hoping the Arx guys will study and mimic accurately the accelerations / changes in speed everyone experiences when we walk. It's a very subtle thing, but it makes a big difference - the properly done (not overdone!) head bob, weight shift, and feeling of footfalls. It will do that much more to throw us into the environment - especially when we can look down and see feet!
Anyway, can't wait guys! (though it sounds like I'll have to upgrade, DOH)

Oh yes ... the PC's movement feels very natural and realistic ... even more then Thief's does. Walking speed feels just right, and it, the foot movement below you, and the audio footfalls are all in sync. Not only do you really feel like you are on the ground, but you really feel as if you weigh something. The motion when you crouch is just perfect. It really feel like you are going down on one knee. Sadly, you can't lean ... :/
Of course, when you try to jump off a ledge and don't fall down, it kinda breaks the immersion just a tad. That's being delt with.

Ah great! Thanks for the info. If all that people are saying and have said till now about Arx is accurate, it really sounds like these guys are putting some serious hard work into it. Excellent. I hope it really pays off for them, so they can keep up the great work.
Too bad about the leaning... maybe they'll reconsider it.

Hello all
I am new in the forum but I have been follwing Arx since the day it was announced
My fav game has been during the last 10 years UW so now I see my dreams to play another UW coming true.
Now that the game is close to release and gameplay and controls are being unveiled I have an important question.
From the preview I assume that combat is very similar to UW one, moving the mouse, but UW also had a keyboard controls, which were the one I used, left hand on 'wasd' to move and right one on the 3 keys to perform the diferent attack moves. My question is, is there any option like this in Arx? Having a key for every type os slashing.
Thanks very much, and please, if you can , post more screenshots, I love them

Raf just told me that you CAN lean in the game!
That's a good suggestion, Ark. I'll pass it along.

Whoa! Is that possible!
i'll have to experience that to believe it!
Very good that you can lean, i was just about to say...it better be done! Ever since Shock II and Thief, i've always felt like the movement was so restriced in first person games that didn't have it, from not being able to lean. Is it just from side to side leaning or is there a forward lean too? And what about manteling, will that be implimented?
i'm really excited after reading all that, it sounds like it'll be like Ultima, Thief, and System Shock all combined into one....i can't wait!!
