I'm not sure what technique was used for designing the animations for Deus Ex but it often looked very un-lifelike, in my opinion. Running charachters were some of the worst here, particularly the women.

floatiness must die.<br />Compared to Thief's animation DX's were jerky floaty and 2nd rate, which was unfortunate as the rest of the graphics were pretty good.

The only animations i weren't particularly fond of in Deus Ex were the combat ones ... the way troops would do that odd circle-strafing dance puncuated by that hiliarious squatting animation always cracked me up. I mean it's nice to have a variation on the way people attack you (as opposed to just running at you or standing still), but it looked silly IMO.

Yeah, running characters always looked like they were on ice wearing roller skates. Then there's the whole "chicken with the head cut off" AI, but we won't go into that here.

I was looking at some of the screenshots for the PS2 version of DX1, and people apparently lean forward when the run, from the looks of it they stay on the ground too..... could be even better for DX2?....

DX2 is slated to have full skeletal animations and mo-cap, from what I read.

Perhaps some better death animations. They just sorta fell over like a board.
Perhaps if they crawled along on the ground, or clutched their chest/arm/appendage when they got hit in that area.
