Hi there
One of the biggest disatvantages of Thief 2 (and the only one for me) ist its old graphic. But there are several games like Quake 2 where people created an upgrade which improves the graphics greatly. Now my question ist, if someone is working on something like that maybe ? Or are you rather waiting for the dark mode for Doom 3 ? (Not talking about Thief DS because that sucked)
Thanks already and have a nice week

The Quake series get those kinds of upgrades because id software released the source code for the games (which, while becoming slightly more prevalent, still remains an extremely unusual move in the game industry).
The source code for the Dark Engine games was never released.

Still, without modifying the Dark Engine, there might be a way to create a texture patch for T2, with higher resolution versions of original textures, there is a "grey" patch that already exists. But it would be too much work to redo all the textures...
Furthermore, I love the T2 graphics, a little old school, and not so old after all :cheeky:

In comparison to a game I still enjoy from 1988 (Sentinel Worlds 1), :weird: Thief 2 graphics are excellent. Graphics are there so you can see what you're doing, but they're not what makes a game fun, unless you play that Beach Volleyball game to look at the girls. :laff:

I know. And I still love to play Thief 1 and 2 but there are some moments, when I'd just wish the graphics were better. I just hope they guys from "The Dark Mode" can get the feeling for thief right. Would be great to enjoy the live of a thief with the doom 3 engine. Also I think the editor's easier.

The only graphic element that iritates me in the Thief series is the seledine highlight colour in Thief 3:eww:

Trust me - in my biased opinion, we've not only got it right, we've done it better. But take a look at the screenshots on the website and see for yourself :)
(BTW - its Dark
Mod - mod as in modification)

I know the webside, I know the screens and I'm also a registered member in your forum ;-) The graphics are extremly amasing up to now but I don't thinkit's easy to get the feeling from the first 2 thiefs right. I've beenalways impresed by those detailed units of your and I don't think I can immagine how much work it actually is. All I know it's the only mod I'm realylooking forward.

Well it's not easy, you're right, but our mappers and artists have nailed it I reckon, and as for the features, we have a really good balance of new stuff that still stays true to the original without getting all fancy pants (oil flasks etc) like Thief 3 did.

Please don't start. Oil falsks aren't a tiny bit more fancy than any elemental arrow, Holy water, Flash bombs or Speed and Slowfall potions. It's just the fact that it was used in TDS make the "oil flask etc" wrong.
