By fancy pants, I mean their impact on gameplay, not their "beleivabilty". And on that note, some of the items you listed we are also not going to make for the DarkMod, so there.
I dont' think I should say which, I'll leave that to New Horizon, he's our PR guy.

Oil flasks were a joke, quite literally. I'll stick to late greats...Peter Sellers, Laurel and Hardy, and Charlie Chaplin for my slapstick thank you.
Had they played the guards slipping a bit more 'deadpan' (one foot slips up in the air...BAM...down on their back they go)...then they would have better fit the tone of the game. As it stands...poorly executed. Same with the additions to moss arrows, they shouldn't have just filled the guards mouth with moss..(oh...ha ha..choke choke, mrrrpphhh mrrpphh)..they should have grown down their throats, into their lungs and killed them. It should have been slow and gruesome. At any rate, we're not doing that...and some of the other stuff. Blah blah...I'm tired. Going to bed.
I've revoked the term 'public relations', in exchange for 'prickish retaliation' today. One day only folks. Get it while it's hot.

I didn't say how they were implemented, they could be implemented better (not so comic-like). I said about the concept. Oil flasks and choking with moss are great ideas. As well as combining effects of several arrows.
You know you so like to put down TDS from time to time that I seriously fear the worst for the Dark Mod, it's a bad sign when devs put down other "concurent" games loooong befere their own product is ready and can be objectively compared by independent player.

Sure, because nobody outside the Dark Mod has anything bad to say about TDS.

What? Not this 'TDM developers can't have an opinion about TDS' nonsense again....
Listen up, this goes for anyone who holds this opinion. It's a
game people, there's no need to take this as seriously as if you were actually in the freaking game...it's not personal, so relax. :)
So what if I or others on the team didn't like a lot about TDS, many didn't. Many on the team do like it, but I certainly
don't LIKE putting it down, nor do I care to be vilified as someone who takes great pleasure in doing so. If anything, it pains me. I wanted to love this game as much as anyone, but the simple fact is that it strayed too far from the tone, style and atmosphere of the originals, and it didn't live up to the hype. (Thanks Warren "Spider Man" Spector) No big surprise in the current market. MONEY MONEY MONEY!
Obviously, I must have seen some good in it. Otherwise, why would I have spent the last two years of my life actually
trying improve areas that I felt could have provided a much more interactive gaming experience? If I have a problem with something...I'll fix it, and if that's not possible...I'll let it go. I'm not one of your average whiners and complainers and neither are the Dark Mod team members. In case you haven't noticed, they aren't your average whiners and complainers either. They joined together over two years ago now, to take things further than is possible with the T3 tools and create what we all feel a 'logical' evolution of Thief 1 and 2 would have looked, and played on a modern engine.
I like aspects of TDS, and I equally dislike other aspects. It's really no big deal.

I often complain about the lack of T1&2 elements in TDS but I've ranted too much about those so I'll say this: everyone's entitled to their opinions. Some say TDS sucked while others love it. T3Ed was the main reason I went back to Windows from Linux because of the potential I saw with TDS.
I do like TDS but I agree with NH that it strayed too far from the originals & I applaud NH for the Minimalist Project and his latest T3EnhancED (not to mention being the PR for the Dark Mod). I'm glad Ion Storm didn't go with a Thief Anime (although there's some aspects of TDS that reminds me of that style). I may offend people if I say I absolutely loathe anime but I do  I think I'll stop my rant before I stray off topic because I had an 8 AM class today & I get loopy when I'm tired :bored:

Also - we are actually implementing specific things that were in TDS that weren't in the previous T1 and T2, so there.
We have no relegious devotions to any of the games - just the concept itself (which is more T2 than T3). We're taking the best from all the series and throwing heaps of our own stuff too.

Yes because Looking Glass Studios didn't make the game for money at all.
Domarius on 4/2/2006 at 18:31
Well put it this way - if money was their sole driving force, they would have made it like T3 in the first place. They could have taken this easy way out but they didn't.
They were taking a risk by making a game that was very much unlike anything else out there. You could argue they were hoping it would be so different and cool that it would make more money than anything else out there - but if I were just aiming for money, I know what option I'd go for. I don't play casino games, I get a steady job where I know money will come in.

Yes, because TDS did so well.
