Hi, long time no see. Actually, so long time that my original account seems to have broken :erg:
So, I started playing Thief: The Dark Project after a looooong time. To my minor annoyance, I noticed that the movies look better when played by RealPlayer than when played in game. Does anyone know if there's any way to improve the ingame video quality?

I'm not sure if it's due to gamma in game or what really, but it looks quite crap. Either that or due to codecs.

yeah - I was going to say it sounds like a codec problem
don't know how you'd fix that in-game, though . . .

What I don't understand is why they play fine in wmp but in game look like that though. Could someone explain the theory of that? Unless it's gamma related :S

I personally haven't noticed a change in the movies as a result of gamma.:erg:

Well, the color contrast isn't that bad, but the movies are pixelated. I guess it's a codec problem then. Were they really that bad when I last played the game..? :erm:

It could be. The game's pretty old. The movies are only 320x240 after all

AFAIK, in DP 1.14 movies were affected by gamma setting. In 1.33 and Gold it was fixed, and gamma will reset to default when you see a cutscene, and restore the setting while back in game.

If that is so, why is it doing that for me :( When mine is from thief gold.
Unless it's a codec thing hmm.
I guess I'll find out when I reinstall windows.
Okay, jtr7 also thanks. Sounding like it might be codec related. I hope so :) Well, if the org codec on the cd fixes it that is.
