In game murals and paintings. - by Griffin Bain

I was thinking the other day about how a person could easily bring tangible thief items into their homes for decoration purposes and I had remembered that some of the paintings in thief 1 and 2 were actually real paintings. For example, I saw that one painting of a woman wearing a white gown in an old history book one time and it got me thinking what other paintings were "real" paintings.
Can anybody help me with this question, does anybody know where I could find the names or artists of the paintings seen in the games. For example, I like the picture of that one woman holding an orb and standing on a serpant, that would eb cool for a basement or a library.

Here's a couple of threads where most of them were identified. I wish a clean list had been made, though.
So make one here then.

Heh. I was wondering if you'd poke yer head in here.;)
Sorry, I've got other lists to attend to, but if this one still needs being done when the others are finished, I'll certainly see to it.

It is quite easy to find things in thief that you can get in real life. I myself have a nice little collection of the paintings from Thief, ie;
Georges De La Tour's Magdalene and two flames,
Whistlers Symphony in White,
Willem Cleaze Vanitas,
Willem Cleaze still life,
Jaques-Louis David Madame Recamier,
Duerer Four apostles,
Raphel Bindo,
George Stubbs Horse frightened by Lion,
The wife of Hasdrubal (can't remember atrist) etc. Iron sconces that look very similar to those in Thief. Swords, bows, cross bows, arrows, armour, velvet lounger, dark red silk curtains, brass candle holders, Hammer Haunt, Hammerite armour, fourteen pound sledge hammer, carved Russian jewelry box, chain mail, helmets (kettle helm and cabasett). I could go on and list more.

Darling, you forgot the hand painted Hammerite Banner in our living room, Your first two sets of "Thief" gear and me dressed as a guard or Hammer whenever you want chasing!
(And the bloody four poster bed you won on E-bay and I spent all yesterday afternoon assembling!)

what kind of money are we talking about to get some of these paintings and artifacts?

Most of the stuff I've purchased off Ebay. Some of the paintings you will find on sites like Art.com or All Posters. The prices vary so I would shop around. I bought six sconces like the ones in thief for £40 but when I moved house I had to sell two. The armour, swords bows etc are for our re-enactment.....

The Hammerite regailia was made by me.....
