If they truly want to make it as accurate to thief as possible then there will be a few scenes of overpaid guards with their swords drawn sticking their faces in a dark corner of a wall muttering "Where are you?....You taffer" while Garrett is camly walking the other way:cheeky:
As for characters for the movie.....
Lord Bafford: Michael Moore
Benny: Kenny Rogers (for obvious reasons)
Viktoria: Whitney "Witless" Houston
Basso: Alec Baldwin
and for the Grand Role of Garrett.....How about the UPS guy from MAD TV. Imagine Garett on way too much caffeine trying to stay hidden from the guards:cheeky:

hahahah
i almost crapped my pants on that matti nykänen pic
they're making a film of his life too btw
the only directors i could currently trust this project on are ridley scott and soderberg
david fincher is technically very good, but i would like to hear his vision of it first
perhaps george romero if there's going to be alot of zombie stuff like the first game
naturally, as a fan i would also love to direct it myself :-)
but i doubt i would have the talent

Ok in what I said about Bruce Campbell I think I meant that to be a joke really but now that I re-read it...it certaintly doesn't sound like one does.... but really who cares about the idea of a movie...as many people have said all movies done on games have failed miserably so I reccomend stopping this thread dead in it's tracks

But if he could act, and has such a cult following, don't you think he would have gotten an legitiment big budget film by now?
Since when does acting ability equal big-budget flick? If anything, they're mutually-exclusive concepts.
SneaksieBum on 21/11/2003 at 05:55
bruce campbell does have a strong cult following, BUT that is not to say they are a majority and would therefor land him some huge movie. In terms of cult followings, what actor has gotten a huge movie based on that alone? most of them have atleast a desent amount of acting ability to get the big roles. And bruce tends to stay with the cheesy slapstick crap, and there is no big budget for that! :cheeky:
anyways, back to the movie. I can't see Norton bein' able to pull it off. he is a bit to ... whiny sounding. Don't get me wrong, excellent actor, but i doubt he could pull off the voice. that brings up the idea of voice overs, which would work well in this case. futher back to type-casting. If there was to be a movie, it would be great if they got someone with actual acting ability. (like Norton) because a good actor would be able to make you believe it. The voice thing could be fixed with voice over. I think Viggo would also need the voice over, if he were cast in the Garret spot. just not gritty enough. i suppose sound editing could be done, but who knows. what i find most intertaining though, is that this post is replied to like wild fire.... and it's all because we are bored to tears about re-reading the same old crap about Thief III and it's SUPPOSED release dates! :bored: wake me up when it gets here.

It just bothers me when I hear people holding Campell up as some sort of Movie god just because he has had some cheesy B-movie that was "so bad, it was good." When really, it wasn't. It was really, really bad. A classic, maybe, but still really bad.
It's almost as if everyone likes him because they are SUPPOSE to like him. Kind of an art house peer pressure.

Anyways, here is a good list I think:
Viggo Mortenson
Johnny Depp
Hugh Jackman
Toby Miguire is a vergaterian? :nono:
Yes, he is a vegetarian, as I found out on one of his infamous fan sites. hehehe...

Originally posted by Hammerman Hugh Jackman would be good, I also think he would make a good Max Payne if they ever make a movie for that. Possibly also either Edward Norton or Keanu Reaves. Brandon Lee would have been ideal.
Hmm... Keanu Reeves as Garrett? Interesting... very interesting... would he play the part well, I mean, I know he's well known as neo from the matrix but could he play Garrett well? I think he would look good with some cloak and hood... I never pictured Garrett as a blondie or a brown haired guy anyway...
richardhamer_00 on 21/11/2003 at 11:33
Yeah, Tobey Maguire is just... too young.
I mean, the thing is that Stephen Russell has so much made himself Garrett with his brilliant voice acting performance, that you just can't imagine anyone else playing him. As such, I really don't know what to say.
However, I have to say while I prefer the game Thief 2, I thing that Thief 1's plot would make a better film. Don't ask me why, I just do. It's probably all the occult pagan weirdness.
If they really put a good budget behind it, make the Trickster cool, and at least attempt to show through the dialogue some of the theme of technology vs. nature that is so much part of Thief, it could be a good film.
Still, chances are it will never get made.

Ever see Keanu Reeves in "The Watcher?" He can play dark and gruesome pretty well, actually. The guy can act, people just don't give him credit because he used to be Ted of "Bill and Ted."
Whoa...
