Why does Keanu Reeves always seem to come up in Thief movie threads?

Tobey as Garrett? How can Garrett, a character who is known for his very distinctive voice, be played by someone without any vocal cords?:cheeky:

How can anyone, after having played these games insist on a showy composer like Elfman, I do wonder. (actually most of the scorers mentioned are pretty darn Huge) Cripes. He's amusing at his best, but lately he's sucked so hard he could play a saxophone backwards.
I would have been amused to see what Michael Kamen made of it, but no danger of that now. Might be fun to throw it to someone off the wall like Kenji Kawai.
I still think Barry Adamson, but I also think my idea of what sort of film it is differs rather a lot from most.

Keanu Reeves?
That guy couldn't act to save ass.
For him to play Garrett... >_< Why don't you just metaphorically take the character and impale him on a rusted pipe.=p
Willem Dafoe, is a really good actor but.. yeesh, Garrett isn't that big of an eye sore even though he doesn't look like you're typical pretty man ala the FF series.
If anything, I'd say Christian Bale is a really good choice too, he can be a real chameleon when it comes to looking the part for a role. Although, he's physically huge and nothing like the swift, lithe thief in terms of bulk. The man, can cock two shot guns at once(!) O_O

What about William B. Davis as Constantine/The Trickster?

I think the best actors for Garret would be:
Russel Crowe
Mel Gibson
Clive Owen
But certainly not Tobey, that lille kid.:ebil:

Please humor me, I'm new to be able to post. (Maybe that's because I'm lazy and never bothered registering.)
I don't like Tobey either. :tsktsk:
I like the idea of Viggo (I also thought of the Prancing Pony), but he's not cynical. The similarities are that Strider is a ranger, and Garrett is an ex-keeper. That's it.
I think Hugh Jackman could do it, but he always seems too agressive to me in flicks, not Garrett at all. I always thought of Garrett as brooding over a good way of revenge instead him being Wolverine and punching everyone out. If only we could mix the two, and add Stephen Russell's voice! :thumb: I also like the idea of Anthony Hopskins as Constantine. :)
There is this looming threat in my mind, though that it'll all end up as Resident Evil with too many zombies. :wot:

I almost forgot...
The director needs to be artistic and creative or true to the game for the most part...or both. I almost thought Ron Howard, but then I remembered Grinch and Cat in the Hat :eww: and quickly scratched the idea. Maybe Peter Jackson? I thought of somebody else, but it slipped my mind.
A scene like the Thief III tralier would be really cool, and could go anywhere. It embodies Garrett's skills in my opinion. It makes fans grin, and holds newcomers in suspense.

He would actually make a pretty good Garrett, you have to realize of course he would be wearing make-up and wearing a hood and stuff though, and he needs a different hair style.
