(
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0487405/) - Jonathan LaPaglia
I don't know how many of you have seen the show "Seven Days" (I'd assume that quite a few have, even if only once or twice), but for some odd reason I can see this guy putting up a good Garret act. He's got sort of a gravelly voice, if maybe a little too surfer-ish sounding at times. Even though his older brother, Anthony, is midly successful...hmm...how
about his older brother Anthony? Or both? One as young, one older.
Viggo...well, I fear Mr. Mortensen is stuck with what he's got now: mild-mannered action hero. Garret...mmm...isn't exactly mild-mannered. It could work, but as someone pointed out, when he (Viggo) raises his voice it tends to sound like a mix of Dudley Dooright and Kermit the Frog. You know what I'm talking about...just listen...Council of Elrond..."You cannot wield it!"...EEW! Yet, I suppose all of his lines would be in a near whisper anyway, so it could work. His voice is really soothing and gritty at the same time when not agitated.
And don't poo-poo the Bruce Campbell idea! C'mon! He'd be great if every second he was on screen I wasn't thinking, "Just say it..."Gimme some sugar, baby""
Then again, I also agree...I
seriously don't see a Thief movie happening...ever. It
is fun to speculate though.
I also don't quite understand why most are choosing exceptionally good looking dudes for the role. From what I've seen, Garret really isn't all that hot. I don't think he's really
supposed to be good looking. It's that tall, dark, and
mysterious thing happening there, not
handsome.
But, dear GOD, not the little boy! Garret should be older than me (29) by quite a bit, and Toby is
not.

I m inclined too think of a movie which has two parts like when the person was younger, and when they were older. Toby would make a perfect teenage garret, but then they would have to turn him into a more grissly charachter, like maybe, viggo from LOTR, or Sean Connery :weird: (considering its a film, they would have to tweak the plot) Garret could be caught and in prison reliving his life.

OK, mods, you can flame me or delete this post. Sorry. But I just have to ask this question:
WHAT WILL THE MOVIE BE ABOUT?! Garrett stealing all the time is somehow boring. Though, if they made Tomb Raider (which I absolutely adore - as a game), they will cope with Thief. But... You know the game's mainly about stealing, the levels are dead long and... Oh well... Garrett/Viktoria romance will be the main plot! Or: taking the control over the world... Nah... I don't know... Now I got lost...
Now you can flame me. As for the actor: KEANU REEVES would be perfect. Or Johnny Deep.
And Garry Oldman for Karras!

Alice:- how about a story based on constantine taking over the world, yes in game garret steals loads of stuff to win but with a film you would introduce things like the thickening out of each level, like when ramiraz is after you, it have garret almost murdered and him finding out who it is etc.

it would most definately be hard to write
and no, it wouldn't be only pointless thieving
that would be silly

It would be very interesting if they chopped and changed bits from each level of Thief, such as Undercover and The Maw.
More than likely it'll be a "loosely-based" kind of adaptation. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it. The atmosphere is what will make this movie.

I wouldn't worry about Tobey McGuire playing Garrett. Nine times out of ten, the lead ends up going to someone else. Five years ago I heard that Nicholas Cage agreed to play Willie Wonka in a remake of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Now Johnny Depp (as the lead) starts filming sometime in the next six months.
I like the idea of Gary Coleman playing Ramirez. He should have planty of time in his busy schedule after he's done playing an oompa lumpa...:cheeky:

But there's another problem - for me, as a girl... Garrett's voice. As far as we know, nobody but Stephen Russel has this sexy voice *waggles her eyebrows* What about it? And, yeah changing bits of levels... Not entirely changing.... Well. That'll be good. Anyways, I'd like to go to the cinema and watch my beloved Garrett on a big screen ^^
