As far as I'm concerned, I can only think of three guys who I would buy as Garrett:
Hugh Jackman
Viggo Mortenson
Mel Gibson
With the nod going to Mel, at least then you could be fairly sure it would have a decent budget. Toby Maguire? I just don't see it. I don't think its sacrelige or anything, I just don't see him being gritty enough. I just hope they do make a movie, and base it fairly faithfully on the first game. Seems like a decent storyboard to me, just waiting for development.

Way off topic and completely irrelevant, but Gellar's initials also form the acronym for Sub Machine Gun.
I was thinking that Gellar was short, but as I don't have a mental picture of her (though I'm sure most of you do...;)) I wasn't sure. Likewise with Viktoria; my computer is fried, so I haven't played Thief in a while. I knew there was some reason my mind wasn't reconciling Gellar as Viktoria, but...
Yeah...

Me talking to friend about Revolutions: "Watch it, watch it, Watch It Now!"
Friend "You play too much Thief...only, you don't.

If they ever make a movie based on Thief, I would insist that they use Jean-Pierre Jeunet as the director. City of Lost Children, Amelie and even Alien: Resurrection all had a great look to them. I doubt they are going to make a Thief movie though; I expect we are more likely to a Deus Ex or Max Payne one first.

I can see Viggo Mortenson. When I first saw his character in tLOTR in the Prancing Pony, he's in a dark corner, has a hood up, lights his pipe and all you see is part of his face and a gleam in his eye....that was pure Garrett and very Thiefy!

Hey, I said the exact same thing in another thread!
I definatly thought the same thing when I saw that. He could pull it off.

I think Clive Owen would be my favorite for Garrett.
I hear he's being touted as the next James Bond after Brosnan.
I agree with you though he would make a good Garrett.
Strangely enough, the profile we would find most ideal for an actor to play Garrett would fit that of the ideal profile for someone to play Bond, eg. cant be too young, but not so old that it appears implausible (he needs to be in good shape to pull of the role of master thief), but old enough so that the audience gets the impression that this is a seasoned and experienced chap.
Which would Owen choose, Bond or Garrett?
The solution?
Forget Owen and get Bo Selecta Craig David to play as Garrett for sheer comedy value!! It'll be proper bo I tell thee!!
