Think they should cast michael jackson as one of the zombies.
HAHA!!! Imagine moonwalking zombies in Thief the game!!! Shamone!!
Just for your amusement here's a link to a series of short excerpts from "Bo Selecta" (Just to explain to those who arent familiar, it's a surreal British comedy programme). Look at the Michael Jackson ones, they're the best ones!! HEEEHEEEE!

Tobey Maguire is a fine actor but he is -= NOT =- a contender for the role of Garrett.
In my mind the only one for the job is Christian Bale of 'American Psycho', 'Reign of Fire' and 'Equilbrium' fame. He's a dark soul and does the american accent well too. He seems quite fit too, so all those silent acrobatics would pose no problem for him.
Equally, there is only one contender for the role of Constantine - Brian Blessed!

I didn't know that. It seems that IMDB have an entry for him:

No photo, though. Does anyone have a photo of him?
The other actor who sprung to mind was Jeff Bridges.

I don't think there is an actual photo of Mr. Russell. I think is just a disimbodied voice that floats around doing voice-over gigs.

I know! How about Thief: The Musical, starring Richard Gere as 'The Dancing Thief'?

basically tobey is rubbish, he just cant act to save his life, looking glass believed in quality not hollywood styled mass public oriented dribble. if they are gonna make a movie about the game then they should stick to the quality aspect. for this movie they would need quality actors like johnny depp. he is a seasoned actor who believes in quality. Tobey McGuire is just another hollywood it BOY who just got lucky with the role, even though the movie stank he's a millionaire!!! and the cast makes the movie dont say things like it doesnt matter, it DOES!!!!!!!!. just look at oceans eleven! IF DONE PROPERLY THIS MOVIE COULD BE THE NEW LORD OF THE RINGS

It should have a director such as Luc Besson (LEON!!!) for a stylish appearance such as in the FMVs in thief, or a good peter jackson type who would treat us fans like we know what were talking about, like peter did with tolkiens work, someone could do with all the fanfiction, i mean is there a game out there with a fanbase as good as thief??? with fanfiction? the movie should aim to have a lasting effect like the game was.

I like the Viggo Mortenson suggestion; my only concern is that his voice is rather...odd...at times. Kind of like someone delivering their Dudley Doright impression through a cardboard tube. However, there is a way around this, and it would mollify the fans, at least partially. It's simple: dub his voice. They did it to Ray Park in Phantom Menace (for obvious reasons)...why not have Stephen Russell's voice dubbed over Viggo's? So we'd have scruffy-thiefy guy, plus the smooth, cynical tones we know so well. (People without the English version: suffer! Ha ha!) Win-win, or something close to it.
