Even though people don't like the proposed cast, I would really like to see a Thief movie. I first thought of the potential when I got Thief I. Could be an excellent movie if you had the right people for the job. The hard work would already be done for them, the storyline is a gem. :thumb:
Just would hope that they wouldn't make it some cheezy adventure/comedy type thing. :tsktsk:

I think you found our Garret, Viggo Mortenson (spelling?) would be perfect. You are talking about the Viggo who plays Aragon in the LOTR Trilogy?
Anyways, here is a good list I think:
Viggo Mortenson
Johnny Depp
Hugh Jackman
Toby Miguire is a vergaterian? :nono:

Yeah, right.
Remember the Doom movie?
edit: also, has there ever been a good movie based on a game? At all? :(

Nor that expired cheese hidden in a foot locker somewhere in the barracks ...

Hugh Jackman would be good, I also think he would make a good Max Payne if they ever make a movie for that. Possibly also either Edward Norton or Keanu Reaves. Brandon Lee would have been ideal.

Clive Owen wouldn't be such a bad choice IMO. He played Lev Arris in Privateer 2: The Darkening, a very cool, open game that is often mentioned in 'favourite games ever' threads.
He's not bad looking and is not a bad actor either.
However what I'd like most is an unknown actor. Do you really want to see an actor you've seen dozens of times do yet another role? To me, it kills the suspension of disbelief a bit if you see the same face doing too many different things: it constantly reminds me that I'm watching someone act rather than watching a believable character.
Of course, it's kind of contradictory, because the best actors can do that and get away with it... but it always freaks me out to see people recommending 13-in-a-dozen hollywood actors.
I just know that I don't want Hollywood's greasy claws anywhere near a possible Thief movie. They'd forcefully insert a love relationship for Garrett, gratuitous nude shots of Viktoria, Matrix-like bullet time arrow shots, excessive fighting/action, huge combat bots with lots of FX, etc. Bah. And they'd probably make Karras lose his nerdyness because that's 'uncool' and instead turn him into a strong, stupid, crazy evil guy who could never have built the Mechanist-sect in the first place.
I have to admit, Nicole Kidman as Victoria might be okay. She's a fine actress, The Others was great (though that's mostly due to the director).

Kidman would make a good Victoria, depending on who they get to play Garrett. Victoria, I would assume, appears around Garrett's age when in human form. So, if you get Kidman to play her, you are going to have to get someone her age to play Garrett.

Would you guys ever consider Charlie Sheen as Garrett? I mean he's got a pretty good voice for it, and I'd say he's got the look for it as well, and for Viktoria you'd have to find some one who can pull off a pretty good dark look/personality. I doubt they would consider actually going through with making Thief into a movie, and if they did they would have to put some serious detail into it, literally go through every level in the game and recreate it as best as possible. Guards, the locals, the creatures everything, its all pretty self explanatory. they'd be better off not doing it at all, I mean it would be awesome to see one of the best games I've ever played made into a movie, it would kinda ruin everything if they scew'd it all to hell because they didnt pick the right actors or the right 'material' to put into it.
