From the looks of it, I'd say they spent an inordinate amount of time on the animation and soundtrack. I don't think I've seen a game with so much going on in the background, with so much fluidity. If it plays as good as it looks and sounds, it'll be one for the ages.
(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l--b8kA7y1c&feature=related) From this new teaser trailer, it looks to crib quite a bit from Aquaria. Which isn't a bad thing at all.
...and from the tags at the end, it looks like those black metal guys are responsible for the soundtrack.

Well that looks cool but I'm not convinced about the gameplay. Would need to play a demo first.
and RE: the animation. I think it's all 3D, but viewed through an ortographic camera so it appears 2D.

The art direction and fast paced gameplay are what originally attracted me to this game. While the music is much more fitting now, the gameplay looks jarring, disjointed and lacks any wow factor.
Renzatic on 13/3/2011 at 19:46
I wouldn't say jarring and distorted, rather slower than what I originally thought it'd be. Still, there's enough to show it could be pretty hectic later on.
It looks fine to me. Though like Henke, I'd want to play a demo before I really start to froth at the mouth over it. Moreso than I already am anyway.

I like that the controls seem like WASD to move and the mouse to shoot. I like that that isn't limited to FPS and other games can coattail on it, since it's become so ingrained in me. I'm surprised more platformers and sh'mups don't use it.

With the XBLA logo splashed in all trailers and on the site (and no PC logo or requirements to be found), I doubt you'll get much use out of a keyboard for this game.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
Publisher: N/A
Developer: N/A
Release Date: TBA
Platforms: PC
A new look at the alien planet invading title coming to the best of all platforms.
I was under the impression from that info that it was *only* going to be released on the PC. I guess I missed the Xbox logo.
Edit: From their site:

After months of negotiation with several entities, it was decided that Microsoft and Xbox LIVE Arcade was the best possible home for the project.
I wish the trailer sites did their homework.
Edit2: Well whatever, general point is two independent degrees of control, movement & shooting, open up what you can do in the game ... although it can be clunky too, but better than the alternative.

Did you not notice the video showing them using an Xbox controller? All of the control prompts referenced R Bumper, L Bumper, etc...

Guess what Limbo and this seem to have in common...
What? They're 2D and use silhouette based art style? I don't get it.
Seriously, don't ruin my dreams, man. I've already missed out on Limbo (for now anyway), I don't wanna miss out on this one as well. I'm gonna assume it's coming out for the PC up til the point when I have no other option.
...and if that happens, well, my local telco is offering a free Xbox360 to anyone that subscribes to fiber. I might just take the plunge.
