Alright, so I've been lurking on this site for a while, and this is really a good community. I love the Thief games, (I got TDP the day it came out), and a few weeks ago picked up Thief Gold. Now, I'm a retard when it comes to intalling these things, so could anyone point me to a walkthrough on how to install the Thief Desktop Theme, and the Theif Level Editor. I would really appreciate it.
Note: It's not in the FAQ or Readme, so don't point me there.
Thanks for the help taffers... :joke:

the thief themes were for windows 98, i don't think they will work that simple on a newer version, I think one has to lad sound by sound and icon by icon all the contents.
My CD of thief gold doesn't let me open those zip files (maybe it's damaged) so I can't help you any futhurer ;)

Thanks, that clears it up for the editor...
Is there some way to manually install some of the theme files? If it was made only for 98, it's possible they may not work, however it is also possible that they do. So if anyone has any idea, how to manually install something from the theme that'd be great.

I just got Thief: Gold for father's day. My wife is so cool. :-)
Did anyone ever find an easy way to install the included desktop theme in version of Windows XP?
Thanks!

Try this:
* Extract the zipfile ("GOODIES\THEME\ThiefTheme.zip" on Thief Gold Disk 1) into a temporary directory (henceforth %temp%). This creates the directory "%temp%\Program Files".
* Move the directory "%temp%\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\Thief" including all of its contents into "%windir%\Resources\Themes". (%windir% is usually "C:\WINDOWS".)
* Open the file "%windir%\Resources\Themes\Thief\Thief.Theme" with a text editor (Notepad).
* Replace all occurences of "%ThemeDir%" with "%ResourceDir%\Themes\" (excluding the quotes.)
* Save and close.
* Open the file "%windir%\Resources\Themes\Thief\Thief.Theme". This time with the default program, not a text editor. Display Properties opens to the Themes tab with the Thief theme active.
* Modify any settings according to personal preference, then press Apply and OK.
This would belong in the FAQ if it actually were a frequently asked question.
