installing/running Thief 1/2/Gold/DS on Vista with Core2 Duo

... just wanted to share my experience with getting the Thief games to work on Vista with my HP Core2 Duo laptop.

For 1, 2, and Gold, I right-clicked setup.exe and set its compatibility to install as Windows 98 - that prevented the error message when setup detected the NT kernel Vista uses (same thing for XP as I recall).

I did NOT run the game in compatibility mode - doing so made it hang when it tried to load a mission - but I DID have to Alt-Tab out of Thief once it had loaded, run Task Manager, right-click Thief.exe and set Affinity to use only the CPU 0 instead of both CPUs.

For DS, I set the shortcut to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode and had no problems at all. I didn't check the Affinity to see if it was using just one or both processors.
