I was strolling through my Windows registry today and found the following registry key:

Same thing for Thief 1 and the Thief 2 Demo, both have this key too...:weird:
I bet it's some kind of joke from LGS :joke:

Maybe they knew they would never again work on a Thief game--until Eidos surprised them with employment at Ion Storm.
Interesting. Thanks, eepcat.

Amusing. Maybe they made a huge mistake on something and placed that in there as a humorous reminder.

Like someone got in trouble and was told to never do it again. Maybe it was tempting or seemed like a really good idea. Yeah yeah... stretching...:p

Well, considering "0" usually equates to "false," it may be a double-negative.

Heh heh heh. :cheeky:
I found the correlation. Makes sense now. For TDP/Gold/TMA, in the Interface folders:
Quote:
Loot_0: "Gold"
Loot_1: "Gems"
Loot_2: "Goods"
Loot_total: "Total"
set_mode_failed: "The requested screen mode could not be set."
between_key_bindings: " or "
no_key_bindings: "[None]"
insert_cd_msg: "Please insert the CD into the CD drive"
insert_cd_title: "Missing CD!"
regkey: "SOFTWARE\\Looking Glass Studios\\Thief:The Dark Project\\1.0"
driver_text: "Thief requries 100% DirectX 6 compatible drivers for your video/3D card. If you do not have such drivers, you may experience some problems while running Thief.
If you experience rendering problems, or systems crashes please update the drivers for your card by contacting your card or PC manufacturer.
If you have a video card with a 3DFX Voodoo 2 chipset, drivers have been provided on the Thief CD, in the Drivers folder.
Please consult the ReadMe file for more detailed information."
neveragain: "Don't show me this message again":thumb:
So darn, it's not a joke.

Only one way to find out...
Try setting it to 1 and then run the game. If the game refuses to run, maybe it was to be some sort of licensing thing?
Interesting discovery BTW.

Where exactly did you find this? HKCU ?

Oh well, not a joke then.
