They've name-dropped Half-life, System Shock and Rainbow Six as big influences for this early access Steam game, and it's in the $1 tier of the Interstallar Bundle on (
http://www.indiegala.com/) along with Cubicity and Rush Bros.

This would be exciting if it weren't so pathetic. Beyond the initial excitation and, indeed, name-dropping, Zero Point Software have gone through endless stages of pushing back content release while begging everyone to fund them at every step along the way. It was announced around 2005, wasn't it? That probably makes Interstellar Marines the biggest vaporware in indie gaming's history.
The worst part is that many of the concepts that were shown early on looked pretty solid and could still be called promising. But it's just not there. Have they even released any single player content or media updates since the mini-game where you shoot dummies for points (so much for the "old school tactical FPS")?
Also, seeing the spearhead edition for $4 in a sale must feel really satisfying for those who paid $30 and are still waiting for their game.

Didn't realize it's been around for that long. I only heard of it a few months ago. I was wondering how they intended on making any profits after selling thousands of copies for less than a dollar.

Yeah. I remember back when we saw the first videos, it was pretty mindblowing that this game was being made in Unity and looked this good. IN UNITY! But by now, a bunch of great games have been made and released in Unity, and Interstellar Marines is still marching in place. The only way to describe (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLF5cK_T8k8) the video on the IndieGala page is, like Briareos said,
pathetic. Guy's running and shaking the camera around and raising his visor and then lowering his visor and raising his visor and lowering his visor and trying his damndest to cover up the fact that there's
nothing there. Then the dramatic music swells and we're supposed to get to the action-part of the video, and what is it? A shooting gallery. And simple AI drones running straight for the player. The same simple AI drones that were in the playable demo they released back in 2008 or whenever it was. If they've managed to get
anywhere with the AI or the gameplay in these last few years, they're not showing it.
