Come ON now. There's no point at all in attempting to reason with someone
who's brain is that scrambled.
Unusually sloppy for you, ZB.
Normally I'd let it pass, but I know how much you enjoy picking up on misplaced apostrophes... ;)

Mea culpa, motherfusker.

My assumption: There are only two gods. One or both were responsible for the creation of the Thief universe. One is the arch-enemy of the other.
The Trickster and the Builder are the only gods known to have worshippers. We know the Trickster exists and can infer the Builder does(Hammerite priests can cast spells). Neither the Builder nor the Trickster created the Thief Universe.
Quote:
Your assumption: There are a bunch of other gods, the Trickster is a minor one.
We can assume are at least two gods, the Trickster and the Builder. The Trickster is one of a group of old gods(who may or may not still be around). This group may or may not include the gods worshipped by the precursors (Cthulhu and N'Lahotep, maybe more) depending if they follow Lovecraftian mythos(which would make them giant aliens and most likely not old gods). Without knowledge of another god, we cannot compare the Trickster's powers or position.
Quote:
Evidence: The Trickster exists. This may or may not prove the Builder exist as well. No other dieties are mentioned.
The Trickster exists. The Builder most likely exists. We only have names of other dieties so we can't say much about them.
Quote:
My assumption: The Trickster is an avatar, based upon his lack of power, which according to my above opinion, is unfit to suit a god of such magnitude.
We see little of the Trickster's powers, but enough to say he is fairly powerful(own dimension, shapeshift at will, control/grow plants, create/destroy shadow(lights go on if he sees you in The Maw, someone has to do it), limited immortality(doesn't age but can be killed/forgotten)). Not an avatar as he was killed in his own realm.
Quote:
Your assumption: The Trickster is a weak god, either because the Builder is weak or because he doesn't exist at all, because a world-creator would have no problem destroying such a foe. Based upon your above opinion, neither created the world, becuase there was a buch of other, more powerful gods to do it.
The Trickster is a god with powers. The Builder has unknown powers(if he exists).

There is at least some circumstantial evidence for this in the existence of the Cthulhu-esque statues scattered about the game.
Aedryn on 3/8/2006 at 17:29
The name and use of the statue is probably enough to say Cthluhu was a god(supported by developers I think, well admitted Lovecraft reference).
N'Lahotep is mentioned in The Lost City.

Please refer to the randy smith interview for your evidence.
As for spelling and grammar, 1) we're on the internet and i don't honestly have time at the moment as i have major system problems as my hard disc just died 2) Since I live in the UK there is a distinct difference in spelling/grammar so don't take everything i quote as wrong just because it's foreign to you.
Anyway, this thread has been interesting and everyone has their own thoughts and opinions and I agree with darth that we are beginning to speculate upon speculation, from the evidence we have, I'm not convinced of the God/lesser God viewpoint and no-one has outlined the qualities necessary to be a God that doesn't factor in any evidence from the Thief series, but each to their own. Except Zylon and Solabusca who just add quips about mistakes in spelling and grammar and try and bring other people's thoughts into disrepute. Anyway, I have to rebuild my pc and attend to my fm, so im signing off ttlg for awhile, plus I need a break from Zylon trying to condescend to me, he's under the illusion he is better than everyone else. Maybe he's related to brother Greidus?
Verily brother.............. verily.

Not at all. What I do believe is that everyone else in this thread is better than you.
And by "better", I mean, "less of a loony".

ahahahaha
Don't try and blame geography for your grammatical 'tardery. I'm British too and I'm damn certain we capitalise proper nouns, use apostrophes to indicate missing letters and use short paragraphs wherever possible, rather than have everything run into one massive amorphous mess.
As for ZylonBane, he may be a pompous muppet 95% of the time, but he's a hundred times the intellect that you are. Don't kid yourself that people are disagreeing with you because they don't possess the requisite brainpower to understand your arguments; they're disagreeing with you because you are making error after mistake after erroneous presumption.
