So far I can only see half man-half beast sculptures from the greek mythology which would be similar to the in game trickster, but these are actually quite common today, and I don't see any mention of the trickster's nature, "pan frequently depicted with an erection"..... I must have missed that in game. No mention of constantine or the trickster and half man half beast doesn't prove much to me, and if you look at the original drawings for the character and the cutscene where constantine makes his transformation, it's more of a complete metamorphisis than some human-animal hybrid in my opinion, if the developers at TTLG consulted any mythology when designing the game...which I am not convinced they did...then I don't think they stuck to it very religiously.
As for "gods can be killed they are just tougher than lesser beings" well this is true, except for the being killed part. As God's don't die and if they did I'm confident they could return pretty quickly. I'm not talking about omnipotent, I'm talking about immortality, and that be definition is integral to describing a god. Sure, he could be a strong higher being with magical powers however limited, but that doesn't qualify him as a god, like someone so rightly said here "just because someone says they are god doesn't quite make it so".There's too many weak links for him to qualify as God material, he just doesn't have the abilities, before his transformation or after, the fact he requires a rock and a human eye doesn't help the cause, or that he can't go and find those damn talisman's himself, afterall he has all the time in the world hasn't he? If he couldn't find them, it makes him an even worse "god", a god with a low IQ lol. It's nice to think of him as a god for the game sake though
" I've never robbed a god before"
......technically Garrett, and you might not want to hear this, but............

Being immortal is neither necessary nor sufficient to be a god. Vampires are immortal, but they aren't gods. Plus just because you're immortal doesn't mean you can't die.

And a healthy measure of Loki. He is the Trickster, after all.
As for Werewolfintheshadows, he seems inexorably headed for the "troll or halfwit" pile at this point.

Im not sure who you are trying to get to here and why, but I'll bite...
Trickster. Hmmm..... what does that sound like? Someone who TRICKS! That is his main weapon. Why else would he be called that?!?! Perhaps you missed the finer points of the story. Allow me.
The Trickster took much joy in watching people do all the work, and usually crumble through their own efforts and pride. He didn't want to kill Garrett because he wanted to watch him struggle. Kind of like those stories about the guy who owns a mazelike estate and drops his "rats" in and watches them scramble. Its all there in the story...
"Danced we away, and fed the sad stringsie manfool to their devourings for our thanks."
You see, wise observer, Constantine assumed that his denizens would take care of Garrett in his Mansion, you know, where him and Vicktoria left the poor thief for dead after gutting his eye?
The problem with people like you (not you) is that they named him The Trickster, not The Annihilator. Again, have to live with it.
Now, I want you to go back and play Dark Project 3 times.

And finally, that all depends on if you consider some games from the 80's early 90's to be "mythology". Dont you know *anything* about LGS?!
Taffer.

Ok, apart from the fact so many people here seem to just quote other people which is basically a cop out from coming up with your own ideas.... I honestly don't need to be quoted back to myself, it's either a sign you are lazy or forgetful, neither is good is it?
If so many people here have the answer...why not say it? I mean you want me to believe to be a God, now we are using the word God, that's G-O-D, and everything that goes with it by common definition, you want me to believe
A) you don't have to be immortal
B) you don't have to be omniscient
C) you don't have to be omnipotent
D) you don't have to have super-human powers
OK, let's say we are all hypothetically on the same planet here. What do you have to have?
Please answer this first, what do you have to have?
What are the requirements? So far I'm being discredited for stating the traditional, and I suggested an abstract idea that he is more like a demon from what we know, so can someone present a case for themself without relying on trying to discredit mine.
Please remember the fact we are talking about a GOD, thats G-O-D again (also notice i'm not quoting anyone else in my post which must be a first for this thread)
He's the trickster = therefore he tricks? Well it doesn't take a genius to get that far. So he must have tricked garrett into replacing the real eye with the fake, because he wanted to die, that's the hidden agenda all along, he had suicidal tendencies but couldn't go through with it himself. I think too many people here are relying on pagan hymns from the game and ignoring the cold hard facts....and then writing "it does exactly what it says on the tin" over everything.
Another bottom line here may be that we will never know which is part of the mystery and maybe some people here should pull their finger out and just start agreeing to disagree as I'm sure everyone has their own interpretation.;)

Try looking up (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deity) deity, kiddo.
Here's the quote:
A deity (from Sanskrit deiva) or a god is a postulated preternatural being, usually, but not always, of significant power, worshipped, thought holy, divine, or sacred, held in high regard, or respected by human beings.
So the Trickster is:
* A preternatural being
* Of signifigant power (Having your own pocket plane is pretty gods-damned signifigant)
* Worshipped and though divine by humans (Pagans).
Which qualifies him as a god. Nothing about omnipotence, omniscience or anything else.
Gods are USUALLY (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortality) immortal, but that immortality doesn't necessarily mean they are INVULNERABLE.

Oh no Solabusca, you quoted him! That means you're lazy and/or forgetful!
Anyway, let's not forget the most important principle of godhood: If someone asks you if you're a god, say "Yes"!

My friend. - the drama and the answer is quite simple.
Correct. At the time LGS develeoped this particular game, that was their design.

I mean, *ahem* NO!
I mean....is it beer-thirty yet?
