I had to search back through the thread to find out what that was. Defense of the Oasis? No, totally forgot about that one. Might have to look into it. I've also got my eye on another good looking strategy game coming out for the pad in the next few days: Leviathan Warships.

Gonna wait to see what the reviews say though, and find out whether the PC or iPad version is the one to get. Apparently there's cross-platform multiplayer so that's pretty awesome.

Got two great games showing up on the app store this week. Knights of the Old Republic, which came practically out of nowhere, and Warhammer Quest, a game based on the old board game of the same name that looks awesome as hell.
Question though. Since I'm not that big of a Star Wars fan (s'alright), I've never felt much need to go out and grab a copy of KOTOR. Since I'm looking for something to play on my iPad, is it worth the $10 to get it? Is it a decent enough game even for people who aren't huge SW fans?
edit: Eh. Screw it. I went ahead and bought them both.

Probably a good decision. KOTOR's story is as good as the original trilogy, and I imagine the gameplay would translate well to the iPad-format.

Kotor is an excellent game. The spit and polish of this game when it was released was heads and shoulders above most of the CPRGs of its day. And many of the game features that are now stock-standard in CRPGs were fairly progressive at that stage, so I don't know if the impact will be quite as strong as what it was then. I loved a lot of the side characters and choices presented during the game. Some people criticised its Ying Yang approach to morality choices but to be honest this was in keeping with the Star Wars Universe anyway.

I don't have much time at the moment to go into details, but I gotta say that KOTOR on the iPad is easily the best port I've seen. The game is excellent, it's smooth and stable, everything's been reworked for touch input, the controls are just about perfect, and it's awesome.
If anyone here owns an iPad and hasn't played it yet, I recommend picking it up.

I realize this description fits most of the good games in the AppStore, but Backflip Madness is the stupidest fucking thing ever and I can not stop playing it.

Love it!
I don't play iDevice games usually (as they are all my gfs) but I think this whole casual/small gaming thing that they've sparked is great.
I'm waiting for the sequel to The Room.

-Rayman Jungle run: awfully well adapted for touch devices, includes the same art and graphics as Rayman Origins.
-Sonic Dash: No need to be a hardcore fan of this hedgehog to enjoy this endless runner. Outstanding visuals and addictively fun, with plenty of challenges to complete, and it includes a daily reward system
Best iPad games I've played since PvZ.

Speaking of PvZ, part 2 of that has been out for a month and a bit. It being a timed iOs exclusive is so unfair. I love PvZ with a passion. Hell I even play the facebook game of it a fair bit. But for the sequel to the main game to only being on that platform for the time being is very unfair.

I wanted to get into some mini-strategy or tactical games for my phone, and downloaded more than a few. But the only one that's really stuck with me so far is called Little Stars for Little Wars 2. It has the space 4x rts boiled down to about as simple as it'll get.
You're clicking little ships to attack down lines between stars to battle the ships on them & capture them, & then the stars'll slowly generate new ships after you capture them. You get bonuses for doing it below a time limit & below a click-limit, and optimizing your plan is a game in itself.
Any other mini strat/tactical games people recommend? That Leviathan Ships looks fun.
