I really don't understand people nowadays... whenever there is some kind of upgrade or new model of a smartphone device, they instantly switch to the most recent one with no reason on whim, especially the iphones.
God, please give me a headshot, I'm tired of this world of zombie sheeps

I upgraded because my old phone kept crashing and I could do so for free on my contract.
Also, because technophiles. Why care what people do with their hard-earned?

After three iPhones I decided that the 5 wasn't worth upgrading to, so on Monday I spooged my free phone entitlement on the LG Optimus 4X HD instead. It's just come into stock over here, and seemed like a good half-way house between the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3. So far so enjoyable, though I've yet to add too much to it app- or media-wise.

I own an SGS2 for about... one year or so now. It's pretty cool, but only if you root it and use Cyanogen. Seriously, the default Samsung stuff is bad.
As for why getting an SGS3 is worth it? Or any quad-core phone really... there are plans of running a native Ubuntu on the phones themselves. There was a demonstration video from Canonical somewhere where guy sat down at his workstation, the display and keyboard connected wirelessly to the phone and the running Ubuntu instance simply switched to "desktop mode". It looked as if he had a full blown desktop ,and meanwhile he could still use his phone fully (Ubuntu and Android use the same linux kernel so the two can co-exist nicely). Walk away and the phone simply switches back to phone mode.
But in all honesty, I see way more promise in the ASUS transforming phone/tab/laptop concept than SGS3 which is really just an SGS2 with better hardware. If nothing else, the ASUS transformer stuff can actually have some useful battery life, even when you actually use it.

I'm still perfectly happy with my original Samsung Galaxy, it does everything I want it to. There's a few things that I grumble about, but not enough to make me want to spend hundreds of pounds to fix.

I never pay for phones - I just wait until my contract is up and then see what's the best free upgrade I can get. My tariff is such that I generally get to choose whatever is on offer.
