Well, I did it again, bought it anyway. It's a little finicky, but I think I can get used to it (I did the training in four takes, which is less than it took me years ago on PC).

(
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/broken-sword-for-iphone-next-month) Looks like the
Broken Sword Director's Cut will be available soon.
If it controls anything like the
Beneath a Steel Sky iPhone version, it should be pretty good.
In fact, I've been wanting to write up some impressions of iPhone BaSS for some time now, but I never got around to it... :erg:

That training was gawdawful back in the day. The exact epitome of how not to start a game. Great game though.

yeeeahh... haven't really been playing Driver at all. It works, I guess, but I think as a rule, iphone games that attempt to use the touchscreen as a substitute for traditional buttons should be avoided—especially when there are so many interesting games that use the touchscreen in novel ways.

Latest Favourites:
(http://www.whatsoniphone.com/reviews/jungle-swing-review) Jungle Swing: Swing your monkey through the jungle with the aid of a jet-pack. This sounds like an awful idea, and indeed, I spent the first ten-minutes getting very cross. And then I figured it out and it became an addiction.
GTA: Chinatown Wars: was a bit dubious of how this was going to work on an a touchscreen, but am pleasantly surprised. It's 3D, but they've gone back to more of a top-down view from the first two GTA games, and there's some nice cut-scenes. I wish they had included speech, though.
(http://www.doodlejump.com/) DoodleJump: Brings a whole new meaning to
'How high can you get?' Tilt your phone to control left and right movment, tap to shoot. It sounds stupid but it's addictive fun.
Lastly, and this is going to divide opinion, (
http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Final+Fantasy/review.asp?c=18723) Final Fantasy I & II have been released at last. They look great, and it looks like the touch screen interface has been thought about. I've yet to buy either as they're kind of expensive at £5.49, though.

I purchased Brainpipe when I was waiting at a Macdonalds in a bus station after the bus was delayed for a couple of hours in iPoh, Malaysia. It really hasn't been adapted for the iPhone at all, which is a shame as I felt that this game could have made great use out of the iPhone's accelerometer.

I was a little disappointed with Hook Champ. It looks like Rick Dangerous, but didn't quite deliver the fun I remember.

Don't think this one has been mentioned yet, but I've been addicted to an arcade style game the past week called
(http://www.bitforge.ch/) Orbital. There's a free version that allows you to get to a score of 15, and I highly recommend trying this one out. Simple, yet surprisingly fun.

Holy shit, Drop 7 is much more addictive that I thought it was.
