Well, I know this much, the only one being a pompous ass in this thread is you.

Be quiet you blithering idiot.
You're more then welcome to hate, froth and spittle on the iPhone if you want to go create a thread about it in Comm Chat.
This was largely a great thread about discovering new iPhone games for those of us, who y'know, might be actually interested in playing games on the device rather than bullshitting about how we all bought one to look cool.
Oh, and TTLG isn't a democracy, and you might want to check out the proportion of the staff who do own a phone with a picture of a green fruit on it before you decide to continue your thrilling psych-analysis of the owner demographic elsewhere.

Awesome as it looks, I can't imagine playing any game with complex controls on the iPhone. I was in the Mac the other day, killing some time. While walking around, oogling at all the people drinking coffee and reading Thus Spake Zarathustra (not kidding), I saw they had Pacman running on the iPhone display. I think "OH NEAT", fire up a game, and tried to play it.
I couldn't play it. That's right. I couldn't play Pacman.
Touch screen controls absolutely suck for anything remotely approaching an action game. For games like Civilization, it'd be a beautiful experience. But Duke Nukem 3D? No. Not so much.
Right now, I see every good game for the iPhone as a massive cocktease. It might run well, might have great gameplay, but playing it will be an exercise in frustration. Until someone designs a good gamepad to slap on the thing, the iPhone will be a viable platform for only a select few genres.

I would have thought that Pacman would have used the accelerometer?

I must admit, I can't stand playing driving games on my iPhone. In theory, "tilt to steer" sounds great but it's not so great in practice, espcially when befuddled with 'tap here to brake'
There's a version of Doom out for iPhone, but I'm not touching it with a bargepole because I just know I won't be able to stand what they've concocted for a control system.
Pinball Fantasies though, <3

Eww, that'd be even worse than the unresponsive touchscreen pad you get saddled with.
