I don't understand why everyone bashes DNF. It's not a bad game. It's just a game that was already dated 5 years before it came out.
Yeah, I enjoyed DNF for what it was.

I absolutely hated it. School boy humor and average level design. Nothing like Duke 3D at all.

Schoolboy humour and average level design? You mean like what Duke 3D had?
Sulphur on 19/2/2014 at 04:44
Duke 3D did not have average level design for the time, and you know this. Relative to everything thing else in the market in 1996, it was a breath of fresh air. The humour... well, that's always been what it is.

Sorry cuzzy bro but pretty much any Levelord map -- especially in Episode 3 -- is subpar compared to Allen Blum's.

ACM is garbage though.
I'm not bashing it. Only suggesting that if you're not a mega studio with a huge slate of productions worth squillions on the go, you might end up doing weird stuff like doing other people's sequels or finishing other people's games (Gearbox are a pretty peculiar case though, I must admit. They pretty much made it a specialty for a while there).

Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Huh?
Oh, right. I'm going to play Mirror's Edge now, and orgasm multiple times over the level design between it and Dear Esther. Also probably video the process to aid with my 500-word essay extolling the virtues of simulating B-spline NURBS in UE3/Source for better architectural geometry and post it in here, because it's incredibly apropos. Woo!
Who wants the video

Still on-topic brah!
So, now that Irrational's going back to the size it was during the good ol' SS2 days, do you think they'll do a Shock/Thief roguelike? Procedural Minecraft stealth with narrative generated from Markov chains?
Shit, I'd join them.

Irrational isn't going back to anything.
It's going out of existence. Ken Levine just fired everyone because he got bored.
