You do realize that Ken Levine doesn't actually own Irrational, yes? Take-Two does.
I wanted to point out the same thing, this wasn't Levine's call to make. He's just approaching the PR side of it rather poorly, but it's the parent company that made the decision to shutter Irrational.
The thing to remember about this sort of ventures is that there's profit and then there's profit
projections. I can't say whether Infinite turned a profit or not, but while I have a hard time imagining that they made a loss on the back of four million sales, it's entirely possible that they came too short of what they expected to make. And if that difference in return were significant enough to affect other budgeted expenses and projects, regardless of to what degree the fault lies with the developer or the publisher, the former can still end up taking the hit for it.

Whatever, Ken, the best Bioshock is the one you had nothing to do with.
The entire series wasn't that great. I know a lot of people in real life who gush about that game. I wonder if they think Bioshock and CoD are all that's out there.

Sounds like the sort of stuff Chris Crawford's been working on for the last 30 years or so.

I feel like I'm the only person that only mildly enjoyed Bioshock 1 and 2, but then nearly jizzed all over the ceiling from the awesomeness that was Bioshock Infinite. Just clicked with everything I find appealing, minus maybe the occasional endless, somewhat excessive, enemy zergs.

Infinite was my favourite in the series as well.
While I loved the art-direction and enjoyed the story of the first Bioshock, the gameplay felt clunky and repetitive after a while. I never finished the second BS as I lost interest half way through.
On the other hand, I felt that Infinite finally got the gameplay right and there was enough variety in the game with links to the narrative to help hold my attention to the end.
And that art direction...just wow

Monsters.

I agree in general with them. The horde combat was pretty weak, but everything else was lavished enough detail to make soaking it up rather enjoyable. And I liked the story regardless of the balls it dropped; at least it wasn't as dimly unaware of itself as BS1 after Ryan.
