Bioshock: It's a state of mind, man. I can't wait until they Bioshock the civil war, myself.
Still, the trailer did manage to make me forget the cavalcade of disappointments from the previous game I played with that name (mostly because of floating cities being cool). Would have prefered a little less relentless winking and plummeting.

bs1 was ok, bs2 was actually good (from a gameplay standpoint). This is just more of the same imo. I actually waited for David Bowie to appear in his Labyrinth costume. I love how they wanna convince everyone that this is something new and say "we wanted to expand on the core principles of BS"......so it's an EXPANSION or sequel, prequel, whatever. It's just like Call Of Duty: World at War. They seem like fkn activision/infinity only didn't make enough billions to have a corporate drama as well.
You know what, I guess I'm gonna get it since I like plasmid-combat and I know it will be at least competently made and have good voiceover (don't know about the script though). But hype or looking-forward ????? No.
the news of the year is Arkane Studios joining id and bethesda at Zenimax. This should have had its own CGI trailer.

Huh? I fail to see the relevance.

camp to the max ? He was the first thing to pop into my mind for "who could be the villain" or "will it have musical numbers ?"
and Elizabeth sounds like Tobey or Elika, I can't decide which one and if that's a good thing. I couldn't stand Alyx, Elika or any other support character from a gameplay standpoint. Eleonore in BS2 worked since she only did her thing and did not hinder you, Elika did not stand in the way, which was pretty amazing but her main function was quickload. Maybe she works like Pey'j as a combo-enabler and otherwise useless support character.
What I don't understand is: if that's set before BS1, where do I the plasmids come from ? considering they are sea slugs. Where are the mad scientists that build this city defying any law of nature ? Which aint that important if Irrational didn't say in an interview: "bs is all about the toolset and the crazy although strangely believable setting", I stopped trying to make sense of the "Bioshock realismn" and just play the game and not expect too much a long time ago. Made me love BS2 as a shooter.

I see it already coming: 2K Marine will make Bioshock Infinite 2 where we're gonna fight the Kaiser. :D

or Jim Henson to continue my ridiculous labyrinth comparison. the sky rail fights do sound nice though. Not that we didn't have any other games with levels set on high-speed trains or platforms or rocks in molten lava. First Bioshock teaser had much more impact and intrigue. This one just looks weird and boring.

Right, so that excuses
everything.
Provided enough buoyancy, a floating city is entirely possible, if not at all practical. But lifting an object with a high center of gravity entirely
from the base is just stupendously idiotic. One strong gust of wind and... oops, lost another one!
Well, I love you ZB for hundreds of reasons, but right here right now you're taking things
way too seriously.

Hundreds? I challenge you to name fifteen. Go on.

He expands on that a bit in (
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/08/13/the-bioshock-infinite-ken-levine-interview/) this interview. Specifically:
Quote:
It allows us to tell stories like the Baby Carriage in Bioshock. As soon as she saw you, she comes after you. But what if we extend those stories out so you see those sort of moments go on longer. What if you don't know if they're an enemy? What if you're sitting there for a long time? You asked how you could increase tension and drama. Well, that's one of the routes you're taking.
Which implies that it's just a tension generating thing. So now they'll wait thirty seconds before they all try to kill you instead of just trying to kill you immediately. PROGRESS!
