There weren't any three years ago, no. At this point in time I think it's a pretty safe bet that they've got their missions more or less figured out, though.
Yes, I don't imagine there were any missions that existed back before the game began development. He did say "at this stage", though. I'm curious as to why.

Thanks for those fantastic links, JTR. You made it easy on me, a casual poster.
It's a relief to learn that Paul Weir has taken the time to create an account here and make a few posts. I feel confident that Mr. Weir knows that he has big shoes to fill, and as such he has undoubtedly studied Eric's work and has used it as inspiration for his own creations. Until I have reason to believe otherwise, I'll remain optimistic that Weir's contribution to Thief 4 will be as praiseworthy as Eric's contributions to Thief 1 - 3.

I'd say that I thank you for your f4ith, but that would probably kick off another 142 pages on the name of the game.

*facepalm*
Thank you for that.

If only the logo promised greatness, not the exact reasons I'm not a gamer.
Thanks, Mr. Weir, for delivering actual hopeful material that isn't embarrassing, and doesn't require faith, denial of facts, forgetfulness, or manufactured optimism, and generates a hype-less natural expectation of good things to come. With the death of LGS, I never wanted another Thief game, but I had hoped the industry would take note and provide even more offerings for the niche market I inhabit.
P.S. Is your post an almost-confirmation that the anagram is what the creator of the odd "4" placement had in mind, and not just a popular notion sparked by sfury's post and DJ Riff's animation? :p

Actually, more like f4cep4lm.

For those hoping for something from this year's GDC: Last year, Paul Weir's presentation at the GDC was on March 3, and two months later, the Power Point slides and audio went online--only the snippet of generative audio was free, and the whole audio presentation was available for $4--so don't expect much right away, and certainly not 100%.
