We are all frightened by apparitions, haunts, zombies, spiders, crabmen, even the cute burricks manage to shiver our spines...
But is Garrett totaly indifferent towards them ?
I ask that because you never hear him crying or reacting out of fear from these terrible moments (except in that Viktoria extreme cutscene).
Granted, if we heard him crying every time we saw something spooky the whole game would be a Screamfest... In Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of Earth you could perceive how your character was having a terrible time and he could even commit suicide if you didn´t care about his sanity levels.
Maybe Garrett fears them but has incredible nerves of steel to control his fear and keep sneaking ? Well, a screaming thief is not very stealthy is it ?

I consider it a good sense of self-preservation as much as nerves of steel. If he sees some terrifying monster, the only way to stop the monster from seeing him, which would be loads worse, is to keep quiet. So yeah, he just keeps on sneaking. :D

He's only afraid of being under someone else's control, losing his free will, and certain kinds of bodily harm.:sly:

If you really study the situation. You are Garrett.
He does what you instruct and reacts the way you force him to. As that is the case, Garrett is as Stupid, Frightened, Careful, or Careless as you are.
Granted, it's a game. But You make the choices. Run, fight, hide, or crap your shorts. :ebil:

Exactly. Check him out when he's wrapped up by Connie and Vickie. That's sheer terror there, sir. You get that when you mess with gods.
Now, he's also pretty frickin' icy most of the time - probably part and parcel of his work.

I always believed the fear was there, but it was his training and experience that prevented him from overtly showing it. Often times, people feel fear, but when the reality is that you either survive or dont, you work through the fear and do whats necessary. In my mind, before RTC, there was some dread in his voice before going in, but the best way to get passed fear is to have a plan (ie his plans to use the cloister entrance)

Nooooo... It's because he has Borg implants, just look at the eye! And dont try to pin that crap on Karras, we all know he is far too stupid to have done that!

I agree with jtr; that's why he left the Keepers in the first place - to escape their control. Garrett's character seems to be one of hardened stoicism and somewhat overly cynical. Granted, each taffer imbues Garrett with some of their own personality/characteristics as Blackman said, but overall, he's supposed to be a seasoned thief who's used to things that go bump in the night (including the bumps he inadvertently makes himself). He'd have to have steady nerves and a lot of patience.
