I didn't find SE's post to be wise-assish.

"You'd rather he was asexual or gay, then?" :tsktsk:
Uh...no. Not driven by sex, or to be looked upon--even if only temporarily--with favor by anybody. I said "women" because he's indicated that's his orientation, and Basso's sister is probably a woman. Context, dammit.
Apples and oranges arguments, here. Not the frikkin' shallow cliché that if a guy isn't stumbling over himself to win a woman's favor, he must be gay or asexual.
SE made an annoying leap of "logic", choosing to take the low road. And it inspired Gambit to pick up that ball and run with it, but he made a point I could work with, using canon.

regardless of whether Garrett is a good or a bad guy I belive the fact that we are discussing and somewhat debating his personality shows just how timeless or flexible he his. I don;t know about everybody else but Garrett is in the same class as Mad Max or Snake. All three of them are tough bad asses who are frustrated with life but can derive some peace by just accomplishing something.
its a gloomy thing to have an eye ripped out or have people try to kill you, but if he could just bring down Karras, or if he could just evade the watch . . . if he could just help brother murus and escape the cathedral than for a time he would be fulfilled. My feelisngs are strong but I'm doing a bad job getting my point across . . .sorry

and the thing about women, well, what bad ass male isn't concerned with women, at least to an extent . . .

That's one of those things the players bring to Garrett, more than Garrett brings to the player.
He's ambiguous and amoral in the sense that he does good things, for an immoral guy, and does bad things, for someone who seems to have a decency about him. He's grayscale, but more towards the darker side without heavy external pressures.

I agree with jtr, it does seem like a wise-crack

Good point.
I think Garrett is interested in women in the same way that any heterosexual male is, but he never lets his natural feelings towards the opposite sex get in the way of his work. He's far too professional a thief to have a real relationship with anyone except an equally lone-wolfish, outside-the-law character like Viktoria.
And jtr7, it wasn't Viktoria who killed those Mechanists; they were impaled by a treebeast. You can clearly hear treebeast sound effects in that scene, and see a tree root moving like a foot, and the mechanists drop from the tree branch before Viktoria even manifests. Unless you're suggesting that Viktoria is the treebeasts...

Don't know about the treebeast thing right now, but being in Viktoria's territory she is at least responsible for what her treebeasts do.
Anyway, I'd find it too unrealistic if Garrett had no special (genetical, whatever) relation to women in general, but I just don't want him to get close to one. After all, first he's in the Keeper compound for a few years and afterwards he cares about being cut off from any danger - and I think getting naked is exposing oneself to danger in some way. That's why I'd rather have him love a woman than touching her in a youknowwhatimeanway. But I'm only transferring my personal impression/attitude to Garrett. Anyway, I still keep to my last post from page three. That would make him interesting in an artistically way.

And finally, what
I would like most is that he could use this sneaking and stealing not only as a mental, but also as a physical way of satisfaction.
I
really don't want to imagine that literally. :eww:
