The Cradle wasn't that scary.

I hated the Abysmal Gale more because I didn't knew what to expect from the undead. but, like, you got holy water, fire arrows, oil flasks, flashbombs... a whole arsenal against undead

Man, don't feel like you're the only one, I had creepy chills the whole time T was playing that level and I felt from the very beginning that the voice was basically good. Didn't matter, it still creeped me out. I'm playing it for the second time too and saw your thread when I went looking for a skip as well. This is WAY after your post, but I hope you found something that worked!

I feel your pain. The best thing for it is to go with the suggestion of turning up gamma and turning off the sound. Maybe go into the game files and make it so the puppets cannot see or hear you.
Thanks to great sound design, the soundtrack is one of the creepiest parts of the mission. Without it, it loses a lot of its creep factor. Adding some of your own music in the background might help.
Of course, I would recommend trying to turn the settings back to normal little by little until you can play the mission in a dark room and get the atmosphere of it.

Meh, I've seen worse. ;)
Threads from 2003 and 2001 came back from the dead recently.
Advice for the cradle: You're actually almost never in any real danger. The AI are slow and don't even hurt that much. You can pretty much just run circles around them going about your business.

After all these years, I can't believe no one has made a joke about skipping all of the levels in Thief 3. :laff:
