What if we joined all information about Thief universe and made a consise encyclopedia about it ?
(in case there isn´t a good one already)
A document compiling all known history, creatures, factions.
We could even join the excellent map the community is doing.
It would be the ultimate Thief Encyclopedia. In a wiki page or PDF format...
It should help newcomers to understand obscure parts like... Who made the Eye ? What exactly caused the destruction of the Lost City ? What caused the Cathedral incident ?
Ok, maybe some parts are left open ended for interpretation in the game but in this case we should inform the readers about what is canon and what is interpretation (Caduca would love it).
For example: We could inform that the cause of the Cathedral incident is not clear. That it somehow involved the Eye. (canon) And that in Emil´s Journal he wanted to get the Necromancer´s involved in the incident (not canon because it wasn´t in the game but left for interpretation).
So the readers would have a better understanding of the story of Thief that sometimes manages to be complicated.

I was just about to look if jtr7 is already replying... and yes, he is! :p

Are you serious?:joke: (Heh heh, Beleg....)
With all my mentions of working on an exhaustive
Encyclopædia of the Thief Universe (the ETU) with spix's circlet, and with Sxerks's (
http://thief.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) Thief Wikipedia, I don't know how you've missed that it's being done as I type this.:D
Thanks for your enthusiasm, though! It's gonna be a long time before we see an even near-completed work, but I assure you, there are a handful of people working on it. If anybody else is working on one, they are keeping it to themselves.
We're still gathering and compiling source materials into accessible lists.
We keep asking for help, or asking for input and opinion (constructive, preferably), or asking for answers to odd questions, and the best stuff is coming from unexpected sources, while those who could really contribute are holding back for various reasons, mostly to do with Real Life issues.
If you want to know how things are connected, you'll have to ask. The answers will come from few sources, because most people don't know. There are gaps that can only be filled with fanon speculation--the individual players' imaginations. And...it angers some that another person's imagined perspective on the story elements differs fromt their own--naturally.:( They don't find speculation fun, nor merely light-hearted, and feel that a hypothesis/theory is going too far, while they do it themselves. I can acknowledge a person's alternate take, their anger, their disagreement. But I will ignore or slap anyone who tells me I'm wrong without giving me anything I can use to reshape my views about the subject matter.

Wow! That´s what I was thinking about!
46 articles ?!?
Sometimes I think Thief has the most dedicated fanbase in the world of gaming.
I´ll start a long reading now :D
Oh, and I really like interpretations. It´s fun to speculate when things are open for our imagination.
I just think it should be clear when it´s canon and when it´s interpretation, so that people won´t get angry confusing the two.
And thanks again :thumb:
PS: Oh wait...

I wonder if it is ok if we take stuff from Wikipedia article on Thief. Trying to re-write T2's storyline by scratch is not that easy.

How hard is it to type "You steal stuff"? =(
=P

What stuff are you looking to take?:ebil:
Most of it can be found in your game files, which is where we're getting it all from (not including the stuff we made from scratch, which was still based on game files).

I guess I never announced that I started the wiki.
With all the Thief stuff scattered around the net and some of it disappearing
I figured a wiki would be the best long term place to collect it all.
Wikipedia had too many restrictions but Wikia had other gaming wikis
so I started one there.
So, if you want to help, go (
http://thief.wikia.com) there and edit to your hearts content, there is a
lot of information to be added, just try and keep it organized.
As for the stuff on Wikipedia, you might want to rewrite it anyway, its not the greatest.
And if you haven't edited a wiki before there are some crazy formatting things
you will need to learn.
This is really a good way for random people to come together and tweak something to completion.
