Hello, I was playing a Thief 2 Fan Mission and was dying a lot in a particular section so naturally, I was hitting Quick Load a lot. Sadly, I hit the Quick Save button by accident right before hitting Quick Load (the two buttons are right next to each other) and now I am left with my Quick Load save state as just Garret on the floor dead into the death screen.
Am I screwed? Or is there a way I can modify the save file?

This is why I set quick save to the "s" key (well it's now the tilda key since I've recently needed s for movement). Anyway, I suggest you do something similiar. I've never had to worry about this problem happening to me again.
As for Garrett's little predicament:
Do you have dromed installed? Install the latest new dark dromed if not. Then open up dromed and open the mission file. Then type-in the following into the lower right command line window:
edit_load_game saves/quick.sav
select your player character in the upper right window. He would be the red rectangle under the purple circle (which represents the editor's camera). Adjust the x or y coordinates as needed (this is in the lower left details section).
Finally type-in
edit_save_game saves/quick.sav
Now you can load that savegame from within Thief (it will say From the Editor in the save file name), and you won't fall to your death.
Edit: Opps, re-read your post. So Garrett is already at zero health at the quick sav point. Well you could try editing the player object's HP.

Those of us who use Dromed can modify save files, but I'm not sure if that'll work if the player is dying. Upload quick.sav and post the name of the FM anyway, just in case something can be done.

I've downloaded DromEdToolkit-1.0, extracted it, but get errors when I open the DromEd application.

In what universe are Alt-S and Alt-L right next to each other?
Now, if you intentionally changed your key mappings to put the quickload/quicksave keys right next to each other-- consider this incident a lesson on why that's a dumb thing to do.

Except they were the default keys: F11 and F12...

I just looked at the quicksave and I'm not sure there's anything I can do. I can see a couple of things that are signs of death but they seem be the symptoms, not the causes.
Someone else might find something if you post in the Editors' Guild.

Thanks for trying. I shall post this in that forum. By the way, I died trying to run across room with faces spitting out fireballs which cause explosions of instant death.

Those aren't the def-- wait a minute, you're using the
Thief 1 bindings? :weird:
