I've tried trainers, looked for cheatcodes, I can't find anything. I had a trainer that promised unlimited life but it didn't do anything to the game at all...
Anybody any suggestions?
Step 1: go to a tattoo parlor, and ask them to write "LOSER" across your forehead in black.
There are no further steps.

There are no further steps. go take your snide remarks somewhere else, Blue :p. Dismal was looking for infinite life, not endless speeches on why doing so is lame and ruins gameplay. If Dismal were looking for that, she/he would have said "Ok, can someone please make me feel bad by telling me why I shouldn't cheat?". As it is, it's fine to offer your own opinion, but at least do so while also offering valid suggestions on how to 'cheat' in this case.
And no, this doesn't particularly spring from my own cheating ventures (or thoughts on cheating).. I would mostly use a GameShark or cheat codes for games just for the heck of it or to see what weird effects I could get by manipulating.. I'm just trying to defend the principle of the matter :thumb:
I'd suggest getting something easy like "Cheat O' Matic" to start off with, and then build up to more sophisticated memory editors. But, as others say, it almost defeats the purpose if you do this for long.. I'd only use it under the most dire of circumstances, or if I wanted to go in the front door of a fortress and go on a murdering rampage once :joke:

EDIT: Added period. <-- There

1. Edit your USER.CFG file using Notepad, adding the line:
no_endgame
2. Play the game through Dromed
Your hitpoints will go down to none but the game will not end.
Sometimes it's fun to just run around and do whatever you want in a game, y'know? ;)

Sometimes it's fun to just run around and do whatever you want in a game, y'know? ;) Indeed. What's with people telling you what to do with a game that you paid for with your own hard-earned money? Anyway, another reason to cheat is to get around game glitches. For instance, in Thief II's "Casing the Joint," a cutscene somehow stalled on me and left all of the participants in front of the only way out, instead of moving on their merry way. Since any contact with you by any character is a mission loss, and the doors are locked, getting out at the end to win the mission was proving impossible. I used the unlock doors cheat to finish, or I could have used the instant win cheat. However, if I didn't have those cheats, I would have had to replay the whole mission inorder to get the cutscene to work right. There's numerous other little bugs in Thief II, and the cheats can sometimes help you get through the missions more easily. In fact, the game could use a couple more cheats. For example, some of the underground levels were shoddily put together, with many little surfaces that you catch on and cannot escape from. A "noclip" cheat (letting you basically move through surfaces and into the air) would really help this problem. On several occasions I had to reboot to the last saved game because I was hopelessly stuck. (I've learned to save often.)

Its very frustrating dying all the time when you are just starting out.
That being said, I can say that cheats on Thief are not needed like they are in some games where the odds out numbering you or you are in one of those STUPID timed sections (a la Tombraider). All you have to do is slow down and do what the Thief is suppose to do. Lurk in the shadow, watch guard patrol patterns and don't rush.

I should have had "NEW AND LEARNING" in the list. I also should have figured out some way to qualify "STUPID" There is no way to indicate Satire without saying "THIS IS SATIRE"
As for it being disappointing when you die while you are learning. It is also disappointing to strike out in baseball, miss shots in basketball and fail to pass a soccer ball correctly.
Nobody asks for ways to cheat on those. They just PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. To me all computer games are exactly like that. You learn or you die.

I'm sorry, apparently I forgot to use the <sarcasm> and </sarcasm> tags when I wrote that.

I was just defending a taffer in need from feeling hopelessly stupid or unskilled. Like I said, don't just talk about how it ruins gameplay if you have nothing to offer in answer to the question at hand. I would go off and start using words like 'mothertaffer' or 'taff the taffing taffer!!" in reply if it were my post :laff: :joke:
I agree with Blackman on the idea that you just have to practice in order to succeed, but sometimes cheating is 'fun' or gets you through a particular area that you don't want to spend three hours walking across tiles, or whatever. For some people, just the process of hacking something apart is fun (i.e., those who come up with GameShark codes on their own.. Cheers to me for discovering a true Aeris Resurrection code :thumb:).

I agree that cheating ruins the fun
BUT I also think it is good for those who want to get their feet wet. Take me for example, I used to play Thief II with a trainer but now I don't because thanks to the trainer, I was able to understand more of what Thief is like and that made me the better gamer. Now, I can play it on the Expert mode
WITHOUT cheating.
So give the guy a break eh? :)
Well angel, there is a Thief II +3 trainer at (
www.cheatplanet.com)
As for TG/TDP, I have a save game editor that generates 16,000 of each item you have. If you want it, drop me an E-mail.
Hello NXMT:
I would be interested in that editor. How can I drop you an email for it?
