Is there a way to play Thief 2 on expert/hard but keep the hints 'on' ? - by KoHaN69

Hey taffers, I always play expert, but i'd still like to see the tips to remind what i bound what key to, and I am guilty of being in love with Stephen Russel's voice.
Is there a custom dark.gam or something for freaks like me? :ebil:

Nothing I've ever heard about. It would be easier to write them down from your customized controls options menu, and put pieces of marked Post-It note on the appropriate keys.

I just started thief2, and in interference on normal, garret comments 'better take out that torch!' and then later about blackjacking a guard that's facing backwards.
but he doesnt say that when the difficulty is hard or expert

Well, that's because those comments are meant as 'training' for newbs and not experienced players.
Would have been nice if TDS had used the same method and disabled all the hand holding on anything above 'easy'.

Also, I'm not sure if they're in any missions after Running Interference, either. So your request may be moot.

Listening to the sound files from
Thief2\RES\snd\Garrett\englishThere are plenty of audio hints in Mission 2 as well.
Where is the which-sounds-to-play-according-to-difficulty data stored? in each mission file?

I would be cool to listen to all the extra content while playting on expert, so having the best of both worlds...

Indeed lad! That exactly is the nature of my inquiry!

A lot of the extra content isn't used, they're just left over.

Actually I was just remembering that it occurs in
Shipping... and Receiving and
Blackmail(?) I can't recall if this happens later on.
Wait, you were referring to audible cues, weren't you?
I was thinking of the text..... but seeing as the original post was about the red text on the screen, it's still relevant.
In the case of the audible cues, I believe Yandros and New Horizon are correct... and the reason it can't be done is because the way it is set up it is bound to the map itself... This isn't some hidden thing that you can just 'turn on' in a cfg file or something. Sorry kohan. This also applies to the red text stuff.. I believe they're set up on a level by level basis... So you'd have to actually go in dromed and edit the maps, I believe.
