Oceansize.
My band supported Oceansize way back. I'd have called them prog more than heavy.
You should check out Karnivool. I'm not a reliable source
per se, since metal does little to nothing for me, but the fact that I really enjoyed Karnivool (who are Tool-esque) despite not liking Tool either means they are exceptional or that they are just not very metal-like. Either way, they are heavy and very good.

Sepultura is another. Though their 90s based. No idea if their still going or not. Great sound though.

I'm being a total opportunist here.
A while ago someone posted a video on TTLG with these two kids rebelling against their parents, wearing KISS style makeup, leather and studs and being dicks in general. And going to the beach. I can't find it and I want to hear that track again. It's partly slow, electronic, partly heavy metal.
Google gives me nothing.
Help?

Speaking of Opeth, Damnation was their last really good album. Ghost Reveries was kinda meh and after that they turned into just another boring prog band.
Yeah, that's right, I called prog boring -- and Porcupine Tree is a major offender in that regard.
To be fair, a blanket condemnation of an entire sub/genre is kind of meaningless, I admit that, but most of the bands that progzombies jerk themselves into a stomachache over -- Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation, the last 6 years of Opeth, and Dream Theater, especially before Portnoy left, and so many others -- just aren't that good. Prog was at its best in the 70s and 80s.

Soilwork's latest, The Living Infinite is pretty great.

Man, Soilwork, I haven't listened to them in ages. Are they still showing everybody how to do nu-metal right?

I know I've gotten on your case about this before, but I just so happened to listen to Watershed out of the blue a few weeks ago, and I found it surprisingly good, like, better than when I originally heard it. Damnation is truly excellent though.

The last album is a double. It's like they took everything they've done well for the last 6 albums and honed it to perfection. Every track is a gem.

You can get on my case all you want, sugar cookie, Watershed is awful and will remain awful. And Heritage is even worse. Opeth believes their own hype.
