Well...It was done a while ago.
I bought DX:IW...downloaded 1.2-patch and the tex-pack. Then played. And was happy. I really love "(near-)future" scenarios as in DX 1 ( only played the dmeo though), and concerning the movies Minority Report and the upcoming I, Robot. I just love these scenarios. That's why I liked DX:IW more than people expected me to.
I thought I might restart the whole game, give it a fresh start...this was yesterday. With the new Forceware Driver it runs GREAT on my bottleneck GF4Ti4200 system with 512 MBRAM and a 2.53GHz P4.
Back then, playing it for the first time, I chose the WTO's way, got Cairo some fresh air and helped JC Denton with his plan of equalling everybody on the planet.
This was before my final exams---
What constantly stayed in my mind was another possibility to be exploited:
Killing everyone. All the fraction-leaders.
What I did today.
Luckily I quicksaved before making the final move, stepping inside this aquinas-router-something, and thus the killing could start. I killed everyone from Tracer Tong to Paul D, Duvier and Her Holiness, the last Illuminati etc.
What I disliked: The outro. No way the Omar can stay...I thought, after having killed all the leaders, young Alex 'll do it on his own, trying to dominate world etc...
But well..obviously I was mistaken. A pity.
I restarted the whole game, hoping I would do work for the Order, but somehow...somehow I see the point in WTO's philosophy. Funny how I agree with them...I just can't think of me being a "freedom fighter"...Shocking, again, that in such a scenario I'd be someone like...this blonde you get to meet pretty soon in the game...Laura Banks? Klara Sparks? dunno...well...it also came into my mind that I worked with the WTO for her only :D
What I'd like to know: Which way did you choose?

WTO at first, as the Order just seemed to want to kill scientists....although I didnt destroy the Nassif greenhouse, even though I looted it for all it was worth :cheeky: Did the JC Denton ending first, but did them all afterwards, and I really can't decide between the JC and Illuminati endings-odd because it seemed like the Helios ending was clearly the right choice at the end of DX.

hm...I just can't think it's "good" to equalize all people...helping JC---seemed right at the beginning, but...well...I don't want all people to be equal! I know, they still look different, one has bigger boobs, the other has a bigger schtick, so what, but...I just can't okay this.
I mean, you can yell "all men are equal" a hundred times, we'll stay different, and I think we ought to accept that. Well...never really thought abut that...so prove me wrong!

1st time I went through the game was on Realistic. Made it a point to avoid killing ordinary people (except the trio by the inclinator who threatened me), the SSC and WTO who stood in my way (knock them out). For some reason, however, I went all out on the Templars right from the start; I think I disliked them, and it got worse as I progressed and found out their dirty operations.
I totally ignored Sid Black; something about him turned me off right from the start. Ava was much more interesting ... plus I like how Alex seemed to poke fun of her ...
Apart from the Templars, I hated the Order for insinuating me to kill the MagRail scientist and Dr. Nassif so I spared them instead. I disliked blatant distruction so I never even visited the greenhouse, much less destroy it as per WTO's mission (Donna never seemed to gripe about this???)
The Arcology Chairman was gunned down (I wished I coulda gibbed him ala DX1 style); I was considering putting Silas Archer on the hitlist but figured it would be more prudent to sic the SSC on him instead; anyway he had it coming after Antartica.
After Antartica, I got a little antsy at Chad's demands that I kill Paul Denton; I offed his bodyguard instead. I didn't like it either when the WTO held Klara Sparks hostage and blitzed Donna Morgan and Co. instead. Needless to say, I revived Paul Denton.
On Antartica, I went straight for the Templars and took out Saman ASAP. I then remembered how Chad had threatened to kill Klara and hit the Illuminati encampment. I was gonna side with JC (main reason was that he never ordered me to kill anyone) and figured that the other two parties wouldn't let me stroll in and out of UNATCO so chose to took them out in advance. No regrets on the end ... I actually wish we could have the Helios ending in real life right now.

Hm, I played a bit today...and I gotta say....I discovered new things! lol...this is really funny...
In Seattle for instance, I told NG Resonance about the Omar Traders, also, I didn't know that killing Gobzilla was a quest, I didn't even know it WAS Gobzilla....
Strange goings on.
Also, I didn't negotiate with Sak but just wiped out her entire crew with the Boltcaster (yay), I found a non-Piezochem BioCanister pretty soon, so I can hack already....and it's all very strange!
Hm..funny...oh yeah, and for the first time, QueeQueg's Manager is at home, and again, I didn't even know he lived there...strange goings on, I didn't know I could miss so many things!
This is really cool for replayability...:D

Taking about replayability, I think the Vison Aug sorta weakens the replayability of DXIW. Seeing enemies through walls is very useful; I employed the vison aug in DX1 extensively. But letting people see useful supplies cuts down on the fun of exploration of new places, which IMAO factors greatly in replayability.
I just walk into a room, take a glance with vision aug and immediately note down placement of interesting items. Takes the initiative and fun outta turning the place upside down just to check if there was any special secret ...

yep, had that in the beginning too, but now, wit the second time playing it, I switched to regeneration...
I don't know why, though. The first time I shot myself through the game, any hostile force was eliminated. Hm...still, theres no biomod thats useless
