I did the same thing a few months ago, Renz, so don't feel bad; I'm a dork along with you. :)
Interestingly enough, the reason I did so was so I could play KQ7 without an annoying graphical glitch that occurred in XP under VMware. If you can get it working, let me know; I was unable to do so. I had to install 256 color graphics drivers, and all of the ones I tried either weren't detected by the game or crashed Windows forcing a reinstall.

Once I have some more time, I'll explain in detail everything I did to get it running. The digest version is basically tracking down some S3 video drivers, installing them during the Windows install, then get a set of SB16 3.1 drivers for the soundcard and install them from inside of DOS (actual DOS, not the prompt). Beyond that, it's just simple tweakery-to-taste.

No, I mean King's Quest VI. I wouldn't recommend VII to anyone. :eww:

Amazing how often King's Quest comes up when recommending classic games.
I remember having a blast with pretty much every D&D game released for Win3. Or was that Win95?

No freakin' way...I spent several hours on that crap. Lucky!

Eh. I hate that they got rid of the more interactive interface (look, talk, etc.) in VII, but overall it's still a good game, imo.
And anyway, KQVI was a DOS game, not a Windows game.

I don't think so. King's Quest is the staple of adventure gaming; a series of true classics (except maybe the last two).

I think that makes you a geek. I had to look up the difference b/w nerd, geek, and dork for this one, forgot about 'em.
I remember playing mine sweeper on windows 3.11, that's about it.
Digital Nightfall on 17/2/2010 at 07:44
The version I played (CD, full speech) was windows-only.
And, as far as I am aware,
nerd: totally into math, science, programming, tech, etc.
geek: gets extremely excited about the stuff they love. tends to collect, obsess, etc.
dork: socially inept, lack of hygiene, unsophisticated, etc.
Granted, there's a ton of crossover on these.

On that basis, Renz is clearly a dork, yes.

Was Spycraft a Win 3.1 or Win95 game?

If I remember correctly, there was a SVGA mode for the CD-ROM version of
KQVI which was Windows-only. Only the portraits were in SVGA, though, and perhaps the character zoom when Alexander walked towards the front of the screen may have been in higher res too.
