They're hardly comparable. Roquefort requires a sturdy palette, but manchego is like a slightly nutty take on parmesan / pecorino.

Every time I stay in France at any length, my cheddar habit becomes quite apparent. Cantal is about as close as it gets, unless you find a rare supermarket that has cathedral city (seems to be the cheddar equivalent of Coca Cola). Sure France has a great selection of cheeses, but cheddar has its own category.
