You're right in many points, but if this is the case, then don't say that this is the best idea ever, and that it would make a great mission, because it obviously wouldn't.
I can understand why most people would think these posts are kinda essential, but unfortunately I am a quality over quantity type of guy. I am really sad that this community has reached a state where it doesn't matter what gets posted anymore, just as long as there are posts being made. I don't want this community to die either, but I'd still prefer threads where at least a small amount of thoughts were put into.

Why not? Perhaps to downwinder it is the best idea ever. If so, that's his opinion. You think it isn't. That's your opinion. No one is saying you can't voice that opinion. Clearly you have. Of course it matters what gets posted. There are all kinds of posts that don't belong in this forum and we do our best to discourage and eliminate them. The issue here is that you think this is one of those kinds of posts, but others don't. You think this post lacks "quality", but others don't. OK, your position on it is as valid as theirs.
For the sake of argument, let's say that you are right. This kind of post lacks quality. Why is that enough of a reason to discourage it? And what would you consider a "quality" post? What criteria must a post meet in order to be considered "quality". I have my own ideas about that, but let's hear yours.

Truthfully, I completely agree with you. But that's all it is, a preference. That in no way negates the value of other kinds of threads. Just because I don't personally like something doesn't mean it has no value.
It's often difficult, in this kind of medium, to really make yourself understood clearly. We don't always interpret what other people say in the way that they meant it. So with that in mind, I'll just say that to me, you are coming across as pretty snobbish. If I'm wrong, I apologize. But in my opinion, snobbery and fan communities do not mix well. A certain amount of snobbery can be healthy, especially if it's just a manifestation of pride in the community. But I can't think of a faster way to kill this kind of endeavor than for the members to become snobbish to the point of censoring what others post because it doesn't meet their lofty standards.
I DO think it's important that you get to voice your opinion. Even if ... especially if ... it is contrary to most others. And I DO think it's important that this kind of discussion takes place.

Don't keep your ideas to yourself, downwinder. You go ahead and keep sharing them with us. Don't let one or two people discourage you. They are not the embodiment of this community. They are entitled to their opinion, and you can't please everyone. But don't let that stop you. The rest of us want to discuss these kinds of things. So keep them coming.
And I apologize, downwinder, that we have derailed your thread like this. We can move this discussion to a new thread (if it even continues) and you can get back to discussing PotA.

i for one always read your posts....they make me laugh, they cheer me up, i enjoy them as i suspect a lot of other people do...we may not agree with what you always say or suggest but hey this world and this forum would be a very much poorer place if everybody always agreed with everyone else
and anyway an off the wall post a couple of days ago has just generated a thread with 50 or so responses....better than a lot of my threads, so keep up the good work....keep entertaining us with all your idea's, mad, bad, sad, bizarre or even maybe the occasional flash of brilliance :D

By "obviously" I meant that there are certain movies or themes that are nearly impossible to adapt into a fan mission, or at least in a way that it would make a great mission. Try to remake the Omaha Beach scene from Saving Private Ryan for example, and you'll see what I mean. (I did not mean here for you to open Dromed personally, was just speaking generally.)

Using punctuations for starters. I admit I can be really snobbish in this case.
I could tell you a thing or two what I consider "quality" but I don't see any reason for it. downwinder had become a martyr, and I am the new public enemy right now. It would only make things worse. But if you are really interested, send me a PM.

No your not....but you are perpetuating your argument, which a lot of people do agree with, and downwinder obviously feels under attack from a continued barrage which he does not have the capability to counter, so other have come to his defense, that does not make you public enemy no.1, but it could be the case if this thread continues

Downwinder, please do not stop posting your ideas. You did nothing wrong. As for the rest of it, Cavalorn, I think fortuni is right that it's time to let it go, but it doesn't mean you're not welcome here either. It's just time to get the thread back on track.
