Going to take her hunting this year, so I am hoping to familiarize her with deer-killers.
She hates pistols for an as yet unknown reason. Said she hated them and we left it at that.
As for the AK-47...she's already spent the day with one. She used one at the range last year and loved it. I still have my semi-auto, Chinese AK but goddamn I want a true Kalashnikov. The absolute best warfare rifle ever developed. I am thinking of selling a few guns I have and/or trading them for a fully auto, balls-to-the-wall Kali'. That and I am starting to get into black powder, so I'd like to get a couple of those. Maybe a cap and ball pistol and an old muzzle loader.

Bah. A rifle is a bore a bullet passes through. Unless she is going to be doing any desert fighting then the AK is a lot of hype to no purpose. There might be a little less kick because the body is heavier and the powder less per bullet but for sniper type accuracy and knock down the .06 is still better, depending of course on the sighting of bushnell and adjustment of range. Windage if applicable.
A lot of her stance in that pic is because the stock is a childs stock and too short for her. Look at it. There needs to be rubber too for less bruising with any larger other than 22. She is still a boney kid. And do you not close your eye with a scope crissakes? Depth percerption? You don't need it beyond sight adjustment. You need pinpoint focus. Rarely with an open sight does one close the left eye beyond a slit but even if it were shut unless you have something running in from the side then what difference? Focus. The shutting out of the entire world is what you need and anything other than a left arm able to support the weight with no breath or heartbeat movement is all there is besides trigger pull. Okay, being used to how the weapon fires and the more powder the less drop but that's it.
Bah glamour and pagentry in firearms. If you let her shoot a muzzle loader then do not forget to tell her to keep on sight for a full 4 count and not assume missfire because of the delay. Look, most of my experience is just country boy practical so let me know if I'm wrong but I do have a marksmanship ribbon courtesy the AF which was admitedly only 100 yards except for the hip shoot 50 and strip and unstrip and clip m16 in 15 portion. Teach her how to elbow prop in various stances, prone, sitting, standing. Above all teach the value of life and how it can never be given back. Don't teach glamour. A gun has an ugly purpose and only in accuracy is there pride.
I apologize if I'm off base and preachy.

My advise? Get the girl a Hi-Point Carbine.
Their great shooters, pretty light, easy on the ears and very gentle with the recoil. You can find them new in box for under $300 and their quite worth it. Its a step up from the .22 but still well within the comfort zones of anyone who isn't terrified of guns. I got one for my ma (she's quite tiny and a senior citizen now) and she handled it just fine with no complaints over weight or recoil.
Plus you have your next christmas gift already taken care of when you get her one of those aftermarket stocks.

Nah, I wrote AK-74, not AK-47. : ) The 74 has a much less powerful bullet. AK-47 would make learning more difficult (even if she loves it) because of the bigger round.
