Starcraft 2 makes me feel closer to graduation.
I just know deep inside that no matter how long it takes,
Starcraft 2 won't be out yet when I do.

Fixed.
Not really... Relic didn't make Supreme Commander.

I too am a little disappointed. I mean, couldn't they at least have added another race? Everyone was expecting either the return of the Xel'Naga or those Protoss/Zerg hybrids hinted at in Brood War. Oh, well. Maybe they will add one of those in the expansion.
I can understand why the graphics aren't too impressive though. Blizzard has never been known to be on the cutting edge tech wise, and apparently they have been working on the game since they finished Frozen Throne 4 years ago! .

The Xel`Naga were completely wiped out prior to the events of Starcraft 1.

Oops. I thought you were simply listing innovative and original RTSs, I didn't even realized that all those games were made by Relic...
:erm:

As far as I can remember they weren't completely destroyed, just most of them were. The rest slunk off never to be seen again. Anyway has something being "destroyed" ever prevented a developer from bringing it back before?
I've heard one reason why the upgrade to SC is so...superficial, is because of pressure from the professional gaming scene in Korea. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

That, and because they'd likely face a backlash of Fallout proportions had they actually made significant changes to the formula. Also, there's a surprising amount of concrete assumptions going around for what amounts to little more than a cinematic, a gameplay screensaver and screenshots.

Personally, I think they should have taken out the Terrans and Protoss completely and just made the game about the zerg. The whole thing could be about designing great zerg infrastructure and making sure that all of the little zerglings have good schools and that the daddy zergs have a place to go to work. They could call it ZergCity or ... maybe... Zergilization.
Then they could make a sequel where you interact with individual zergs and control their daily lives as they watch tv and take out the trash. Yes, and they can call it... The Zergs.
Oh man, that would have been so much better.
