I'm guessing here, but I think it has something to do with A: them building the biggest lawsuit-shield ever, and B: they reacting to how the world of warcraft modding community worked, where people started making money of their wow-mods via donations and stuff like that.
I don't think they will be stealing peoples maps, but they do want to be a part of it when people do start making money from them.
It's legaltalk for them owning all the rights to publishing those maps and controlling the way you make money from then (meaning, they will get a fee)
I don't think they'll ever be stealing maps though, they have enough manpower to create their own ripoffs if they really needed to.
I do want them to fix their entire way of map-publishing though, that system is broken, I'm still waiting to get a chance to play some maps that are only available in the US because the publishing system is not cross-region.

...Or they want to control the rights of any mods that become on par with or surpass the original game in popularity, like DotA or tower defense.
Look at DotA, DotA clones have become a cottage industry. There's about three such games on the market already and an official sequel/adaptation to/of the original mod on the way from Valve.

Very true, but such rights couldn't stop demigod, heroes of newerth or league of legends from happening, since you can't copyright the gameplay. Same with tower defence since it is a genré, not something copyrightable.
We'll see how it plays out.

Koki, if you feel the missions are too easy, why don't you switch the difficulty higher? I mean, you can do it at any point you want. I started on hard and it was ok-ish, now replaying brutal, which is pretty much at my ability this far.
And yeah, the game ain't worth it for the singleplayer (duh, who thought?). MP is great. Need chat rooms though and more community though.

Or you could play Starcraft, which is better in every single way.

Sorry, I couldn't hear you there over the clicking noise from you trying to select more than 12 units.

Or the screams of "noooo" when half a dozen ghosts all simultaneously lockdown the same unit.

And that's exactly why Starcraft 2 will never be half as popular as Starcraft.

I bet you want back the good old days when you could only select 4 units, and had to press B to do it.

Well, I don't know about Eldron, but my point was that even if it didn't have all the cool new gameplay mechanics like Warp In, MULEs, etc., it would still be better than Starcraft because its interface is a million times better and it's just much more pleasant to play, due to unlimited selections, multiple building select, smart casting, better unit pathing, harvester rally points, etc.
